General Information
Strain gauges 3, 4, and 5 are in the tension side while Strain gauges 6 and 7 are in the compression
side.

Questions
(1) Make a plot between 1 (axial strain) and 2 (lateral strain) in order to find Poissons ratio
from the slope of the figure (use curve fitting).
(2) Determine neutral axis location by drawing a figure between the location of strain gauges on
the steel beam (Y-axis) and strain values for each value of load (X-axis) so that the location of the
experimental neutral axis is approximately determined by its distance from the Y-axis.
(3) Calculate modulus of elasticity for the beam by calculating the slope for each line from the
previous part (2) (use curve fitting), and make average for all reading. Use this relation:
