Mexican President Enrique Pea Nieto and Republican presidential candidate

Donald Trump met Wednesday at the official residence of Los Pinos in

Mexico City.

The holding of the meeting took many by surprise, as it was made known
only a few hours before it happened.

And as expected, Trump did not offer an apology to the Mexican president so
in recent months he has said of his compatriots who emigrate to the US,
which he called "criminals and rapists."

In a press conference after the meeting, Pea Nieto and Trump explained
that they spoke, among other things, of security between the two countries,
the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), of which their respective
countries are signatories, And even of the border wall that the republican
candidate wants to raise between both nations.

Enrique Pea Nieto's Reasons to Invite Donald Trump to Mexico

Trump, who defends that Mexico must finance that wall, said that they did
not talk about who will pay for it, something that was later denied by the
Mexican president in a message on Twitter.

"At the beginning of the conversation with Donald Trump I made it clear that
Mexico will not pay for the wall," the president wrote in the social network.

And he would insist on it hours later, in an interview offered to Televisa.

But in the speech that Trump gave in Arizona on the night of Wednesday
and in which he outlined what will be his immigration policy if he arrives at
the White House, the tycoon once again insisted that "Mexico will pay for
the wall."

"Wonderful people" and "change of tone"

Beyond this important discrepancy, Pea Nieto said at the press conference
he offered alongside the magnate after his meeting in Los Pinos: "We may
not agree on different issues, but your presence here, Mr. Trump, shows that
we have a Fundamental coincidence: our respective countries are very
important for each other.

"The people of Mexico had been aggrieved by comments that had been
made, but that I was sure that their genuine interest is to build a
relationship and give our societies conditions of greater well-being," said the
Mexican president.

Also, in an interview later offered to the Televisa channel, Pea Nieto spoke
of a "change of tone" in the speech of the republican candidate to the
presidency of the USA.

"I do appreciate a change of tone, a recognition of the importance of Mexico,

the interest in working together on security issues, in caring for the security
of the North American region."

For his part, the Republican said he took the Mexican president his "views on
trade and immigration policies."

"We talked about the wall (border), we do not talk about who will pay the
wall, that will be for a later meeting," said the US magnate.

He also said that Mexicans are "wonderful" and "spectacularly hardworking"

people, which contrasts with his description of Mexican immigrants as
"rapists" and "criminals" he has done in the past.

He also said the invitation to dialogue was open to Democratic candidate

Hillary Clinton.

At the press conference they hosted in Los Pinos, both Pea Nieto and Trump
talked about the dialogue of just over an hour they held in private.

Pea Nieto said that they spoke to "clarify and overcome

misunderstandings" in an "open and constructive conversation" in which
they did not agree on certain points.

The Mexican said he is ready to "modernize" NAFTA, and to work with the
US. To establish an "efficient and secure" border.

Donald Trump proposes in the border between USA And Mexico

For his part, Trump insisted he has "a lot of respect" for Mexican
communities in the United States, but noted that there are aspects of the
bilateral relationship with which he disagrees.

"Nobody wins where people and drug traffickers take innocent people, when
cartels comment on violent crimes, when illegal arms and money flows
enter Mexico," said the Republican.

Trump's relationship with Mexico has been complicated: in recent months he

described Mexican undocumented immigrants in the United States. As
