BICYCLES

Bicycles are used frequently for patrol

before the beginning of the century, and their
use has been rediscovered. Approximately
20% of Americas police department
employing 100 or more sworn officers now
used bicycles (Reaves 1992) and it is likely
that the number is higher on some areas like
housing community campuses and university
lanes, parks and beach boardwalks. In the
Philippines, some of the city and municipal
police station adopted this method taken into
consideration the advantage of this patrol
method.
ADVANTAGE OF BICYLE PATROL ( Strength)
1. Stealth Operation- Silent operation makes
it especially useful any time of the days or
nights.
2. Accessibility- Officers on bicycles are able
to go where patrol cars find travelling
difficult.
3. Broad Coverage- It covers more area than
foot patrol.
4. Proven Effective for controlling street level
drug dealing and controlling huge crowds.
5. Faster response time as compared to foot
patrol.

DISADVANTAGE OF BICYLE PATROL

( Weaknesses)
1. Cost of Bicycle and the special equipment
required for this type of patrol are
expensive.
 2. Bicycle officers required training and must
be physically fit at all time.
3. Weather conditions limits the use of
bicycle as a patrol tactics
4. Carry nearly as much support equipment
is impossible.

OPPORTUNITIES OF BICYCLE PATROL

1. To enter act in the public; can create a
visitation and visibility in long period.
2. It has short range area.
3. Close monitoring to people and the
surrounding ( just like vendors, parking
boys and manager of the certain hotels).
4. Monitoring surrounding (like the
garbage, wrong parking of motorcycles).
5. Access all the routes for chasing the
criminals and not to tired.
6. Often enough to overcoming the
negative perceptions
THREATS OF BICYCLE PATROL
1. Theres no Long-arm.
2. Theres no Bullet vest
3. Theres no gears (only helmet are
being used)
4. Slow response compare to mobil,
rescues or police assistants.
5. Vulnerable when it comes to ambush,
riding in tandem and modus.
6. Vehicular accident especially in high
ways during night time or day time.
