A n inspection window o f clear armoured glass or an equvalent
material should b e provided. If f i t t e d i n a door, it should b e p r o v i d e d
with protection b a r s on each side.
Windows should n o t b e capable of being opened.
Note.- I t is a l s o n e c e s s a r y t o t a k e i n t o a c c o u n t t h e t o x i c i t y of t h e
g a s e s or v a p o u r s .

In other systems it may also be advisable t o p r o v i d e t w o fans but
w i t h o u t t h e need f o r automatic switching.
6. Systme d e p r o t e c t i o n

Where t h e analyzer(s) house is located in a hazardous area, t h e
o u t l e t openings should b e so adjusted t h a t , u n d e r minimum ventilation
flow conditions, a n overpressure of a t least 25 Pa (0.25 mbar) above
t h e - e x t e r n a l atmosphere i s maintained.
6. Safeguarding system
1) a d i f f e r e n t i a l p r e s s u r e switch;
2) a fan motor-starter i n t e r l o c k switch if t h e fan is d i r e c t l y coupled
t o the motor;
3) a rotation detecting device on t h e fan;
4) a n y o t h e r suitable device (e.g. g a s detector).
Ventilation f a i l u r e should i n i t i a t e an alarm. A f t e r an alarm t h e
electrical s u p p l y t o apparatus n o t s u i t a b l y p r o t e c t e d f o r use in
hazardous areas should b e automatically disconnected with o r without
delay.

A2. Where the analyzer(s) house i s incorporated in an e x i s t i n g building,
special precautions should b e taken t o avoid contamination of t h e
building in t h e e v e n t of v e n t i l a t i o n f a i l u r e . A l l systems liable t o cause
leakages of flammable l i q u i d s or gases inside the analyzer(s) house and
a l l a i r inlet openings should therefore be closed automatically a n d
immediately when t h e ventilation fails. T h e number of precautions t o b e
taken w i l l b e reduced if the a u x i l i a r y equipment can be located ou.tside
