which will allow us to read all types of written documents, and access millions of books in
direct download through the application itself. Scribd was founded by Trip Adler in 2006.

conversation with his father, John R. Adler about the difficulties of publishing academic
articles. In September 2009, BusinessWeek named Scribd as one of the "most interesting

Scribd paper format used, which is a rich document format similar to PDF built for the

Linux) without conversion, as long as the reader has Flash installed (although Scribd
announced no Flash support for the iPhone). All major types of documents can be formatted
into iPaper, such as Word documents, PowerPoint, PDF files, among others.
Scribd has been praised by several newspapers and magazines, such as The New York

than 900 publishers, and more than 40 million documents and books have been uploaded to
the site. Scribd readers have access to books by famous authors such as Kurt Vonnegut,

GENERAL PRINCIPLES OF THE WEB 2.0

Oriented Internet: Everything is on the web. Only you need a web browser and an Internet
connection. This ensures user mobility and multi-platform access from any system.
User communities: Web 2.0 is an attitude, not a technology. His job involves participation
under the guidance of the "4 C": Communicate, Share, Collaborate and trust. Users are
content creators and not just mere consumers.
Perpetual Beta: Under constant review. The application guides the user through the
experience and contributions of these is improved.
Ease: It allows agile and accurate management of information in different contexts and for
different purposes. By using CMS (content management): Joomla, WordPress, Drupal,
Moodle, MediaWiki, etc.
Gratuitousness: In most cases their use is free on a personal or educational context.
Personalization: Services and managers CMS can be adapted to user needs by allowing
customization of many of his options: on / hiding gadgets, setting presentation theme
(separation of form and content), categories for classifying content labels , etc.
Integration and connection: Multimedia content supported by the various services are
easily integrated into CMS pages (embed) and they are directly linkable (link). Even some
services use resources hosted in other (mashups). Example: Panoramic allows users to add
a layer of information to an interactive map of Google Maps. This integration produces a
complex network whose nodes are the most visible blogs, wikis, Joomlas, Moodle's,
drupales, multimedia repositories and social networks.

SOME INITIATIVES WEB 2.0

Blogs: They provide easy and affordable Internet publishing system individually or
collectively. It is the most abundant in the Web 2.0 node. It may be the window to
concentrate in one place different resources hosted on other services. Support collaborative
content management based on roles. The information is organized in chronological order
items, pages, links and comments. Some portals most popular blogs are Blogger
(http://www.blogger.com/), Wordpress.com (http://wordpress.com/), BlogSpot
(http://blogspot.es/), etc.
Wikis: They are not as widespread as blogs because they demand higher level of
commitment in building content. It can be used to create documentation of a project
collaboratively: glossaries, encyclopedias, manuals, links, etc. Wiki space par excellence is
the encyclopedia Wikipedia (http://es.wikipedia.org/).
ELearning platform: They are called (Learning Management System = Learning
Management System) and LMS systems are used to create eLearning environments. The
LMS is currently most widely used Moodle (http://moodle.org/). Professor / to create a
course that is a schedule of content and activities that the student performed following the
progression established. The system is complemented by communication tools (internal
messaging and forums) and a tracking subsystem student activity. Many universities and
educational public institutions have abandoned the development of their own eLearning
platforms for the use of Moodle.
