CARCINOMA (Lungs, Cervical and
Uterus)
LUNG CARCINOMA
Lung cancer is also known as Lung
Carcinoma.
It is a malignant lung tumor
characterized by uncontrolled cell
growth in tissues of the lung.
Most cancers that starts in the lung,
known as the PRIMARY LUNG
CANCERS, are carcinomas.
There are 2 main types:
SMALL-CELL LUNG CARCINOMA
NON-SMALL-CELL LUNG
CARCINOMA
Most common Symptom are:
Coughing
Coughing with blood
Weight loss
Shortness of breath
Chests pain
A. NON-SMALL CELL LUNG CARCINOMA
Subtypes are:
Adenocarcinoma
Is a common histological form of
lung cancer that contains certain
distinct malignant tissue
architectural, cytological or
molecular features.
A highly heterogeneous tumors.
Squamous-cell Carcinoma
Is a type of non-small-cell lung
carcinoma and is more common in
men than in women.
Large-cell Carcinoma
Is a heterogeneous group of
undifferentiated malignant
neoplasm that lack the cytologic
and architectural features small
cell carcinoma and glandular or
squamous differentiation.
It originates from epithelial cells of
the lung.
B. SMALL CELLLUNG CARCINOMA
Also known as SMALL-CELL
CARCINOMA, or OAT-CELL CARCINOMA
Type of highly malignant cancer that
most commonly arises within the lung.
Compared to non-small cell carcinoma,
small-cell carcinoma has a shorter
doubling time, higher growth fraction
and earlier development of
metastases.
Treatment for lung cancer depends on
the cancers specific cell types, how
far it spreads, and persons
performace status.
Common treatments are:
Palliative care
Surgery
Chemotheraphy
Radiotherapy
Targeted therapy of lung cancer is
growing in importance for advanced
lung cancer.
CERVICAL CARCINOMA
Is a cancer arising from the cervix.
It is due to the abnormal growth of
cells that have the ability to spread to
the other parts of the body.
No early symptoms.
Later symptoms are:
o Abnormal vaginal bleeding
o Pelvic pain
o Pain during sexual intercourse
Bleeding after sex may not be serious,
it may also indicate the presence of
cervical cancer.
Risk factors:
o Human papillomavirus
o Smoking
o Weak immune system
o Birth control pills
o Starting sex at a young age
o Having many sexual partners
(have a greater risk)
Cervical cancer is both:
o The 4th most common cancer
o The 4th most common cause of
death from cancer in women.
Early stages of cervical cancer may be
completely FREE OF SYMPTOMS.
Vaginal bleeding, contact bleeding or
vaginal mass may be indicate the
presence of malignancy.
Moderate pain during sexual
intercourse and vaginal discharge are
symptoms of cervical cancer.
Symptoms of advance cervical cancer:
o Loss of appetite
o Weight loss
o Fatique
o Pelvic pain
o Back pain
o Leg pain
o Swollen legs
o Heavy vagina bleeding
o Bone fractures
o Leakage of urine and feces from
the vagina
CARCINOMA OF THE UTERUS
Uterine cancer or womb cancer is any
type of cancer that is located in the
uterus.
It can be refer to several types of
cancer, like:
Cervical cancer (arising from
the lower portion of the uterus)
being the most common type.
Endometrial cancer (cancer of
the inner lining of the uterus)
 being the 2nd most common When a cancer has extended beyond
