True scholarship doesnt occur without effort.

Plagiarism has turned out to be a scare amongst

most prospective teachers of late. Plagiarism may have been their best effort. The existence of
copy and paste may be greatly credited for such a milestone victory towards promoting
plagiarism amongst students. For every good deed is accompanied by a suitable reward so is
what may be considered to be a bad deed. Plagiarism however cannot be termed a good deed,
thus may lead to failure and a damaged reputation.

Plagiarism according to Merriam-Webster (2016) is to steal and pass off the ideas of another
writer as ones own without crediting the source. Plagiarism may also be termed as to provide as
new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source. A student teacher is defined
by Merriam-Webster (2016) as a college student pursuing a degree in education who teaches in a
classroom under the supervision of an experienced, qualified teacher. One may say that a student
teacher therefore is a student who is learning to be a teacher under proper guidance from
lecturers and certified teachers.

Plagiarism has impact on the prospective student teacher. Rozycki (2001) says that one may
deprive themselves of the intended learning objectives of an assignment by not conducting
thorough research and formulating an original document. The student teacher fails to go through
the whole process of research so as to learn the art of research and also as they read around, one
gets to learn a lot of things. One may simply receive a zero on the work plagiarized because they
would not have put any effort in writing the assignment. On a Curriculum Depth Study project,
a student may fail the project because they lack research skills. Copying someone else's work
may be the easy way out of an assignment, but student teachers who choose to plagiarise deprive
themselves of learning important tasks and concepts of which they are supposed to later on teach
it. As a result, they move forward in their education and career without mastering skills like
research, citing sources and structuring an essay properly. While one may temporarily get away
with plagiarism, lack of essential writing and communication skills most likely cost them higher
marks, opportunities and careers at some point in the future. Relying on other people's work also
keeps students from crafting their own voices as writers and developing them throughout their
educational careers. One may say that the education system may end up churning out copycats as
the student teacher would not have learnt the art of research thus may never be able to teach their

students how to research on their own. Students who get to involve themselves in plagiarism
greatly deprive themselves from personal growth and ability to develop critical thinking.

While plagiarism most often refers to using someone else's writing without acknowledgment of
an authority, failure to accurately cite sources can also create major problems for credibility and
accuracy in research studies. Norton (2014) also concurs saying that an abundance of plagiarized
content in papers can pollute the authenticity of research results, causing bad information to
infiltrate published studies and lead to inaccurate conclusions. This can seriously damage the
validity of an entire research or assignment that which a student teacher may have be conducted.
One may therefore be viewed as a cheat as they would have stolen another writers work and fail
to acknowledge them.

Norton (2014) states that strong student-tutor relationships are crucial to a positive learning
environment, but plagiarism can take an atmosphere of trust and respect and transform it into
something cynical and negative. Upon the discovery of plagiarism in ones work or CDS can
negatively affect a tutors view of a student and hinder their enthusiasm for helping out or
properly guiding the prospective student teacher. Norton (2014) further states that academic
dishonesty can cause bitterness among student as those who would have actually done the
assignments may be negatively affected by a fellow student's known plagiarism. The whole
education system has to churn out honest citizens thus there is need to also produce honest
teachers in order to let the culture be infiltrated to the minors in schools where the student
teachers would have been deployed.

Heibutzki (2016) says that stealing the intellectual property of others decreases motivation to
produce original material across the board . Even if one may have great writing potential and
great ideas to share, their motivation to take the time and energy to do so is reduced if they can
just steal other work and pass it off as their own. Also, if someone else is going to take credit for
other writers work without consequence to them, they will simply be less likely to produce
further work. A student teacher who would have been a potential great author may lose the
burning fire in them because they have greatly relied on plagiarism which is a hinderance to
ones development.

Depending on the offense and the plagiarists public stature, his or her name may become ruined,
making any kind of meaningful career impossible. A prospective student teacher professional
business person, well known author or public figure may find that the damage from plagiarism
follows them for their entire career. Muzari in Herald (2016) says that Andy Muridzo is a
copycat thus one may be compelled not to try and listen to any of his songs thus his image is
already soiled. Students who plagiarise will find it difficult to rebuild a status for themselves if
they used to be viewed as brilliant. Plagiarism can damage the reputation of not only the
students teacher but also colleges as well as negatively affect the credibility of published
academic research or diploma being offered by a particular college.

Whatsoever one writes, or paints, or plays, or sings, or builds, no one will strive to surpass, or to
insult them, unless their work be stamped with the seal of genius. Prospective student teachers
should also be overwhelmed by the feeling of wanting to be emulated or cited in future only if
they can be able to acknowledge other authors.
