Michael Jeffrey Jordan was born 17 February,
1963 in Brooklyn, New York. He was highly athletic
in high school playing basketball, baseball and
football.
As a sophomore, Michael Jordan was rejected
from playing for the varsity basketball team due
to being too short. This motivated him to excel in

the junior varsity team, which he inherently did.

Over the summer, Jordan grew four inches and
trained intensively. He earnt a spot on the varsity
team, averaging around 20 points per game.
Then, Jordan was selected for the McDonalds
All-American Team due to averaging a triple-
double with 29.2 points, 11.6 rebounds and
10.1 assists.
Many collages contacted Michael Jordan
including Duke, North Carolina, South Caroli-
na, Syracuse and Virginia. Jordan accepted
North Carolinas basketball scholarship, ma-
joring in cultural geography.
In college, Jordan was awarded ACC Fresh-
man of the Year after making the game-
winning jump shot against Georgetown in
the 1982 NCAA Championship game.
Michael Jordan says this shot was a major
turning point in his basketball career.
In 1984, Michael Jordan left North Caro-
lina a year before he was supposed to
graduate to enter the 1984 NBA draft.
