Task 2 & 3

Building relationships; Documenting Science syllabus and resources.

Objectives:
For student teachers to:
Continue to develop positive working relationships in the classroom with both
the teacher and the students by acting as a TA within the classroom under the
direction of the MST.

If possible acquire copies of the grade-level science syllabus, scheduling

and resources

Begin to document the range of resources, materials, manipulatives,

and equipment used in the school; for specific grade.

You will need:

The Teaching Practice Tasks booklet for Practicum 3b
Table 5: Documenting science materials used in the school
Table 4: TP Discussion Board Guidelines

Before implementing these tasks:

Discuss the tasks with your MST. (Ask for permission to take photographs)

Whilst implementing the Tasks:

Make notes about any areas of interest or issues you would like to discuss with
your MCT and/or MST.
Photograph evidence for the tasks and portfolio.

After completion of the tasks:

Clearly label, PDF and store all school documentation in your BBL journal.

Reflection:

This task is related to what I will be teaching with is the science subject, I liked that I
am going to look for some tools and learn how/when to use it. In the beginning I
found some difficulty to look for the tools, because there is no lab and there is one
science teacher but then when I asked my mentor she told me that they have specific
boxes that include tools for one experiment. I saw the boxes in each classroom in the
school, and I knew that each box has tools for the unit's experiments (See picture 1,2
& 3).

In fact, the tools are safe and made up from plastic so everyone can use carefully.
Teacher keeps the boxes away from students to not damage them, and the students
dont mess with. The KG students have an experiment done weekly in each Thursday,
for instance they did an experiment about milk and food colour to see and predict
what will happen. The tools are used in the classrooms because there is no lab, but it
doesnt affect the usefulness of doing an experiment because teachers still have a
place for the experiment to be done.

What I loved the most in this task is figuring out what tool is suitable for what grade,
and how teachers get the boxes ready for the experiments with all the tools that they
need. If the boxes strategy is done in our government schools, it will be very
organized and teachers will have fewer pressures.
