DTI launches Negosyo Center in Kabacan

The Department of Trade and Industry in partnership with the local


government unit of Kabacan opened the first Negosyo Center in the third district of
Cotabato Province last March 28. Location of the center is Kabacan Integrated
Terminal Complex, Barangay Kayaga, Kabacan, Cotabato Province.

Provincial and local government officials, DTI representatives, and community


stakeholders attended the launching which was composed of a ceremonial ribbon
cutting, unveiling of Negosyo Center signage, ceremonial tossing of coins, and
signing of commitment wall led by Mayor Herlo Ben Guzman, Congressman Jose
Pingping Tejada, and DTI Cotabato Provincial Director Engr. Anthony Bravo.

Mayor Herlo Ben Guzman, Jr. of Kabacan said, the Negosyo Center will
bring government services closer to the people. Those who want to register their
business with DTI will no longer need to go to Kidapawan since Negosyo Center-
Kabacan can now facilitate business name registration.

The establishment of the first Model A Negosyo Center in the 3rd District of
Cotabato province will help in the development of businesses here, said
Congressman Jose Pingping Tejada from the 3rd District of Cotabato Province.
Cong. Tejada further said that he was thankful for the passing of the Go Negosyo
Act in Congress which he was a part of. He also cited ongoing government projects
in Kabacan such as barangay roads, road widening, farm-to-market roads, and the
re-establishment of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) as a Research
Institute.

DTI Cotabato Provincial Director Engr. Anthony Bravo said, The Negosyo
Centers are established to facilitate business name registration, business advisory,
and business information and advocacy. It will assist in the implementation of
Barangay Micro-Business Enterprise (BMBE) Act which will give income tax
exemption and minimum wage exemption for micro-businesses.

Furthermore, DTI- 12 Negosyo Center Regional Coordinator/Chief Trade,


Industry and Development Specialist for Institutional Development Division, Ethel
Laksmi Gumana gave updates on the establishment of Negosyo Centers. As of
March 3, there are 453 Negosyo Centers nationwide and counting. In Region 12,
there are 25 Negosyo Centers including here in Kabacan. There will be an
upcoming 27 more Negosyo Centers to be launched in the region this year,
Gumana said.

Gumana added, The Negosyo Centers will bring government services closer to
small businesses, boost assistance to MSMEs, and intensify the promotion of
entrepreneurship in the country.

Rev. Josue Solomon of the Kabacan Assembly of God Church administered the
blessing rites of the Negosyo Center. He prayed for Gods blessings to the people
who are instrumental in the establishment of the Negosyo Centers, to the business
people and aspiring entrepreneurs of Kabacan, and to the local government and
various government agencies.

Ballitoc in behalf of Governor Lala Talio Mendoza, also graced the event and
congratulated the Kabacan local government unit and DTI in the launching of the
