Running head: VISION STATEMENT 1

Vision Statement

Teachers roles are an important part in society because they build education needed for

students to advance in school and their future careers. Teachers educate students to become better

persons by encouraging them to gain knowledge and guide them to reach their goals. Students in

classroom will learn from teachers and build impressions that will impact them as they grow up.

In the Alvarado presentation, the most meaningful information I have learned is teaching leaves

positive or negative impressions to student. As a teacher, my vision and goals are to implement

good teaching qualities, establish healthy environments, and apply various learning assessments

in the classroom for the benefit of my students.

To help students learn various concepts in school, the qualities teachers need are to have

good work ethics as well to be passion driven, exercise the education they received as

undergraduates, and to continue their education as teachers. As stated by the article, Learners-

Centered Schools for Texas A Vision of Texas Educators, teaching requires knowledge in major

subjects by practicing material effectively to relate discipline into themes and acknowledging

changes in the classroom by continuing their education and implementing various qualities that

will benefit the students in classroom (SBEC, 1997, p. 2). These types of qualities are important

in the education field because teachers need to know what they are teaching and keep educating

themselves to accurately help student learn and understand the material in the classroom.

Methods I can use when reaching these different qualities is going to seminars or having

meetings with other colleagues to be informed about the changes in the education system. As I

implement these qualities, I can rebuild or create new curriculum to reach my students and

classroom needs.
VISION STATEMENT 2

A supportive and healthy environment in the classroom is meet by communicating,

possessing diversity, and following the code of ethics. Communication is an important key factor

in the classroom as students learn to ask questions and interact with each other. Therefore,

students and teachers understand that the communication environment does not have any

prejudice or oppression that will prevent them from asking questions and interacting with others.

Not only do teachers need to learn how to communicate, but they also need to incorporate

diversity skills. This includes showing no discrimination or favoritism to any students disability

or learning skill. Another important factor teachers need to implement in their teaching setting is

to follow the code of ethics. In the Code of Ethics, The educator shall not intentionally,

knowingly, or recklessly treat a student or minor in a manner that adversely affects or endangers

the learning, physical health, mental health, or safety of the student or minor (Texas

Administrative Code, 1998, p.1). This code is crucial for teachers to be open-minded and give

opportunities to all students regardless of ethnicity, learning disability, physical disability, or

other factors. To have a supportive and healthy environment there should be no danger in the

students learning settings in the classroom.

Lastly, my last vision as a teacher is to improve and focus on applying cooperative,

cognitive, physical, and other assessments in the classroom. Instructors need to practice

cooperative learning skills for students to work as individuals and as teams where they can rely

on each other, reinforce knowledge, gain rewards, and show students efforts. Kagan Cooperative

Learning book by Dr. Spencer Kagan advices teachers to be informed that in cooperative

learning they do not need to build new lessons, instead they redesign them by adding cooperative

learning skills for students to benefit and increase engagement compared to the traditional

learning setting (Kagan, 2009, p. 14.1). This means teachers are not required to throw away
VISION STATEMENT 3

lesson plans, but add into the lesson itself so students can learn and share ideas as teams. Another

beneficial assessment is for teachers to know and understand how the brain functions and what

are the effects it has in the classroom. In Teaching with the Brain in Mind, it explains how

physical education is an effective cognitive strategy, because it strengthens the students brain by

improving their memory, retrieval, and enhancing motivation (Jensen, 2005, p.67). Jensen

explains by adding exercise to the students schedule, it promotes memorization and motivation

in the classroom. This is due because the brain is more awake during and after physical exercise.

In conclusion, as a teacher I will help my students effectively learn by improving my

teaching qualities, forming a safe environment in the classroom, and adding beneficial structures

in assessments. My vision as a future teacher is to instruct and guide students to become the best

students they can be throughout their education. I want to impact them positively where they will

receive the support needed for their knowledge and life skills. As students become successful in

my classroom, they will most likely want to engage and keep learning from other educators

through their education careers.
