When talking about abuse it can mean a myriad of things to different people.

The
kind of abuse that people go through varies from one individual to the other.
Physical abuse can easily be identified and hence solving the issue is quite easy.
However when it comes to verbal abuse we find that at times the victim or the
abuser may have no clue that they are verbally abusing or being abused due to the
use of words and verbal abuse being emotional and psychological. Verbal abuse has
more effect on individuals well being than physical and may lead to long term
effects especially if it is directed towards a child. Abuse in relationships and
marriages is very common with many people being verbally abused frequently by
their spouses. Verbal abuse usually arises due to different reasons when it comes to
a family set up. It usually occurs in families that are strained by poverty. Women
have been known to come after men who are unemployed or don not take up the
roles of a man in a family due to poverty. For example Johns wife tells him that he
should go out there and bring food what kind of a man is fed by his wife. She
blames him for the poverty that they are facing and does not acknowledge that she
plays a part in it too. At times these may be said as positive criticism but they are
verbal abuse. Different tactics have been used to deliver these verbal abuses; such
tactics include scapegoat mechanism, countering, diverting, and denial,
undermining and threatening, judging and criticizing.

This can also be true in a social context with many people living together from
different walks of life. the dynamic nature of the world may lead to people making
conclusions on some of the social ills that happen around the world claiming that
the cause of the problem are certain groups of people. This is the use of tactics such
as scapegoat and diverting too. Verbal abuse has been used in racism context all
over the world. in America crime can be associated with black people and those
who are living in poverty. For example when a crime occurs and there are suspects
that one can claim that they are not poor so why would they steal which makes
sense but also implies that those who are poor always steal. Racism however has
been over the years been misinterpreted by many and understood that it is only the
whites who discriminate against other people but that is not the case. There have
been various verbal abuses that are racist in nature and focused towards whites. An
example is the phrase that is commonly used that associates whites homosexuality,
go home you gay ass white boy. These are usually very hurtful and at times may
be said without any ill intentions but they cause harm.

Social justice fights for equality for all individuals in society which is recommended
but the problem comes in when we also add aspects of self righteousness by the
social justice warriors and also the use of political correctness as a form of bring
equality to the fold. Political correctness further deepens the rift between people in
society. Different groups of people may feel left out when implementing the political
correctness. In some cases, political correctness comes out as a form of verbal
abuse to different individuals. Some of the tactics that are used in society are used
to hide the true fact that these are used as abusive language. The question that
arises is why would we require using political correctness to refer to someone if we
did not see them as different? Do we not just brand these people in a certain light
and try to paint a different picture in explaining the use of political correctness.
Political correctness is a form of censorship which when looking at the bigger
picture, it is a form of verbal abuse. An example comes in where when one has
committed a crime such as rape, it is important to call them rapists and not use
other words to mark their vile acts, calling them anything else will be diverting from
the truth. It is important to call something as it is as political correctness leads to
verbal abuse of those who are proud of their culture and who they are.
