Deadpool

Deadpools title sequence starts off with the opening comic strip that is featured
within every production made by the institute, Marvel. As the comic strip is playing,
the opening notes of Juice Newtons Angel of the Morning are heard in the
background, which gives the start of the scene a very peaceful, almost tranquil feel.
However, when the comic strip
ends, we are shown the first frame
within the title sequence itself, that
being a man who looks to be
screaming with a burn mark on his
forehead.

In front of him, a car charger is

falling across the screen with water splashing off of it, and it is clear to see that it was
the car charger that had made the burn mark on his forehead. What we dont see,
however, is who forced the car charger onto his forehead to cause the burn mark,
because from the terrified look on his face and the sheer pain you can see in his
expressions, this was not an accident. The use of the production label within the
beginning scene of this title sequence allows viewers to clearly see who is
responsible for the production of this film, and this is also following the stereotypical
hierarchical order of appearance.

It is also sensible to note that a lot

of the titles featured within this
sequence have little relevance to
anything, and this is because of
the use of profane titles, such as
Some Douchebags Film. I
believe that this is because
throughout the film, there is a lot
of adult/immature humour, and the
use of these irrelevant titles mixed
in with relevant titles such as the name of the actors, director and institution shows
the viewers what sort of dialect
and humour to expect in this
film before they see it.

The introduction of the main

character is very self centered
and cocky, and this is because
not only does the title say
Gods Perfect Idiot, but
afterwards, the camera passes passes a magazine with the main character on the
front page, this actor being Ryan Reynolds. In 2010, Ryan was voted Peoples
sexiest man alive, and i believe that the feature of this magazine helps us to build a
mental picture of what this
character is really like, by using the
cocky title and the use of the
magazine to portray his personality
as a very self centered and very
ignorant.

It isnt until 1:06 minutes into this

title trailer that we see what sort of
situation Deadpool is in, and at this
point we are met with the broken window of a Cadillac Escalade, with what looks to
be hired goons trying not to fight deadpool, but trying to flee in fear of him, which is
shown by the terrified expressions of the goons, and the one character wearing a
motorcycle helmet pulling the panic trigger on his MP5K sub-machine gun whilst
flying out of the window of the Cadillac, and again we are met with the odd humour
within this title sequence, shown by the Hello Kitty Lip Gloss, which would have no
place in the car of hired guns, and couldve only fallen off of Deadpool within the fight
that is taking place in the car.

Throughout this title sequence, we are given very mixed messages about the main
character, Deadpool. To start off with we are shown with him on the cover of a
magazine, looking very peaceful, which could connote the fact that he likes to steer
away from violent confrontation, but then we are shown with him poking his fingers
into a goons eyes, and it is clear to see that the peaceful message we are given at
the start of the film, also backed up by the non diegetic music, is that of a false one.
Deadpool is a very violent character with what appears to be a twisted sense of
humour, shown by the titles such as Produced by Asshats and the obscure Mise-
en-scene, such
as the Hello
Kitty Lip Gloss
and the picture
drawing at the
end of the title
trailer, which
simply reads
Hi, Im
Deadpool, and
looks to have
been drawn by
a young child, again connoting to his immature sense of humour.
