Date: January 27, 2015

1. In line with the DepEDs thrust on the implementation of the ICT for Education (ICT4E),
The Division of Davao del Norte will conduct the 6th Division ICT Challenge and ICT
Congress on February 19-20, 2015 at Kapalong National High School with the theme
Enriching Educational Innovations Through ICT

2. This activity aims to:


a. Further develop students skills in the application of computer software.
b. Encourage Teachers to use interactive learning through integration of ICT in their
lessons.
c. Sustain and maintain ICT Facilities in the school.

3. Participants to this activity are the top one (1) winner in each school/cluster/municipality/
district on the following categories:
I. For Elementary Level (Pupils)
a. Educational Game (Text Twist) including the SPED; 1 pax per SPED Center
b. Powerpoint Presentation
c. ICT Quiz
d. e-Sudoku including the SPED; 1 pax per SPED center
e. Video editing
II. For Secondary Level (Students)
a. Interactive Powerpoint Presentation (1 per Municipality)
b. Video Production
c. ICT Quiz
d. e-Sudoku
III. For TeachersCategory
a. Class demonstration on ICT integration (2 pax per municipality for Sec)
b. Adobe Photoshop
IV. For School Heads Category (by district for elementary; by Municipality for Sec)
a. PowerPoint Presentation (2 per cluster for secondary)
b. Pro-Show (2 per cluster for secondary and 1 per district)
V. For Elementary/Secondary School Level

4. Mechanics and Criteria, Members of the working team, Board of judges, schedule of
activities and list of participants template of each contest/event are hereto attached.
5. This is a live-in activity. A registration fee of Five Hundred Pesos (P500.00) shall be
charged to each contestant, teacher-coach, ICT Coordinators to cover the cost of Two (3)
meals and four (4) snacks chargeable against school MOOE/local funds, PTA funds, while
expenses for medals, trophies, frames, honoraria of judges, and other supplies needed
during the conduct of the activity shall be charged to Citizenship Development Fund of
the Provincial SEF ,all subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.

6. Immediate and wide dissemination of this memorandum is earnestly desired.

Theme: Enriching Educational Innovations Through ICT
MECHANICS AND GUIDELINES OF THE DIFFERENT CONTESTS/EVENTS

ELEMENTARY (One contestant per district)


1. Educational Game
1.1 Text Twist shall be used as a software of the game.
1.2 The software will be installed in the computers on the day of the contest.
1.3 Contestant will play two rounds during the elimination, after the second round
(game over), the accumulated total score of the two rounds will be his final score.
The top 5 highest scorers will proceed to the final round. Their scores in the
elimination round will be added to their scores in the final round. The first three
(3) highest scorers will be declared first, second and third placers respectively.
1.4 All contestants will play simultaneously at the same venue.
2. PowerPoint Presentation (including School Heads)
2.1 Each contestant will be given 2 hours to create/make his own presentation using
MS Office (PowerPoint)
2.2 The presentation must not be less than 10 slides. A contestant can make more
than ten (10) slides, provided he/she will not exceed the time allotment for the
presentation.
2.3 The contestants can use the software installed in the computers or access the
internet for additional resources.
2.4 The presentation of the slides shall not exceed five (5) minutes.
2.5 The presentation should revolve around the theme.
2.6 Criteria for judging:
Animation of Slides - 20%
Relevance to the theme - 30%
Delivery Skills - 20%
Substance - 30%
3. ICT Quiz Show
3.1 Each contestant will undergo three stages, the easy round composed of ten (10)
questions worth two (2) points each, average round composed of five (5) questions
worth three (3) points each and difficult round composed of five (5) questions
worth five (5) points each.
3.2 Time allotment per stage: easy- 10 seconds, average-15 seconds and difficult -20
seconds
3.3 In case of a tie, three (3) clincher questions will be asked to break the tie.
3.4 Contestants who got the first three (3) highest accumulated scores in each round
shall be declared first, second and third respectively.
4. Video Production Editing
4.1 Each contestant will be given three (3) hours to edit raw videos placed in the folder
at the computer desktop.
4.2 Only windows moviemaker is the allowed software to create videos.
4.3 The contestants shall focus his videos based on the theme Enriching Educational
Innovations Through ICT
4.4 The video presentation should be within 3-5 minutes. Video exceeding 5 minutes
or below 3 minutes will be disqualified.
4.5 Criteria for Judging:
Content/Impact -30%
Organization of slides -15%
Relevance to the theme -20%
Originality -20%
Presentation -15%

SECONDARY LEVEL
1. Interactive PowerPoint Presentation
1.1 Each contestant will be given 2 hours to create/make his own interactive
presentation using MS Office (PowerPoint)
1.2 The presentation must not less than 10 slides. A contestant can make more than
ten (10) slides, provided he/she will not exceed the time allotment for the
presentation.
1.3 The contestants can use available resources in their respective computers or
access the internet.
1.4 The presentation of the slides shall not exceed five (5) minutes.
1.5 The presentation should revolve around the theme.
1.6 Criteria for judging:
Interactivity of Slides - 20%
Relevance to the theme - 30%
Delivery Skills - 20%
Substance - 30%
2. Video Production Editing
2.1 Each contestant will be given two hours to shoot their own video inside the school
vicinity (venue) and three (3) hours to edit their raw videos to produce short
infomercial (2-3 minutes).
2.2 Any video editing software available can be used in the contest.
2.3 The contestant shall focus his video based on the theme Enriching Educational
Innovations Through ICT
2.4 The video presentation should not exceed 3 minutes. Video exceeding 3 minutes
will be disqualified
2.5 Criteria for Judging:
Content/Impact -30%
Relevance to the theme -25%
Originality -25%
Presentation -20%
3. ICT Quiz (same mechanics in the elementary level)
4. e-Sudoku
4.1 The contest consists of three (3) rounds: elimination, average and difficult.
4.2 Each contestant will be given a maximum of one (1) hour to answer a given puzzle
in each round. Otherwise, he/she will be eliminated on that particular round.
4.3 The first ten (10) contestants who get the correct answer within one (1) hour in
the elimination round will advance to the average round.
4.4 The first five (5) contestants who get the correct answer in the average round will
advance to the difficult round.
4.5 In case only five (5) contestants or less get the correct answer in the elimination
round, they will advance automatically to the difficult round.
4.6 In the difficult round, the first three (3) contestants who finish earlier will be
declared as winners with the contestant having the earliest time being the first.

TEACHERS CATEGORY
1. Adobe Photoshop (For Teachers only)
1.1 Each district and secondary schools shall have one (1) teacher-contestant. Locally
paid teachers are allowed to participate.
1.2 One or several of the supplied images must be recognizable as a central part
each contestants design, however, contestants may add images not found in the
supplied graphics.
1.3 No text, watermarks or images that will be used to identify neither the school nor
the contestant.
1.4 All entries must be RGB JPEG files, below 5MB, maximum of 100 pixels
1.5 Each contestant will be given two (2) hours to lay-out the tarpaulin on the given
occasion (The occasion will be revealed before the start of the competition). The
size of the tarpaulin will be 3 x 4, or an equivalent of 12 sq ft.
1.6 The printed tarpaulin shall be displayed at the designated area.
1.7 The panel of judges will base their mark on the criteria.
1.8 The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.
1.9 Criteria for Judging:
The judges votes will be determined by the following criteria.
a. Over-all creativity and concept 30%
b. Creative adaptation of sources images 15%
c. Visual impact 20%
d. Technical Skills 20%
e. Relevance to the Theme 15%
Entries not complying with the contest rules are subject to disqualification
without prior warning.

2. ICT Integration Teaching (Interactive Presentation)


2.1 Each participant is free to integrate the use of ICT in any learning areas.
2.2 The lesson plans should be submitted to the Division ICT Coordinator one-week
before the contest.
2.3 Time duration of the presentation of the lesson depends on the time allotment of
the subject to be demonstrated.
2.4 The set of judges who will serve as critics are the selected secondary school
administrators. The usual Observation checklist will be used as basis to determine
the best demonstration teacher using ICT integration.
2.5 Subject to be demonstrated are already drawn during the ICT Conference, hence
no one is allowed change the subject at their own advantage. This should be strictly
followed, non-compliance will automatically disqualify the competition.

SCHOOL HEADS CATEGORY


1. Powerpoint Presentation and Pro-Show shall be the events to be contested for the School
Heads.
2. Mechanics of the contests shall be revealed on the day of the competitions.
3. Pro-Show- Video presentation of the school accomplishment
SCHOOL LEVEL (Search for the Most Functional Computer Laboratory)
1. All secondary schools and central schools are entries for Most Functional Computer
Laboratory.
2. The evaluation of the computer laboratories will be done starting February, 2015. The
Education Program Supervisors assigned in each district and the District Supervisors will
serve as evaluator for the Preliminary round. Another group of judges will be assigned to
evaluate the computer laboratories for the final evaluation. The search will commence
during the Brigada Eskwela which will be held at New Division Office Training Center.
3. The following are the basis of the evaluation:
Physical Appearance (This includes the structuring of the com lab, arrangement
of the PCs, wirings, cleanliness of the PCs, space, tables and chairs)
Usage/Utilization (The total number of students/teachers and the communities
use the computer lab- based on the logbook)
PC Recycling (Repair of the non-functional computers to become functional)
Facilities (Prescribed HP of Airconditioning Units, White boards, LCD projectors,
etc.)
Safety & security (the laboratory is secured with prescribed window grills,
Security Guards, utility workers)
Criteria for Judging:
Structuring -30%
Sustainability -20%
Safety -10%
Usage /Utilization -30%
Repair &Maintenance -10%
The evaluation of the com lab will be conducted from February to April 2015. Proclamation of
winners will be done during the opening program of the Brigada Eskwela Plus 2015.
