1. Calculation of lateral soil subgrade modulus for piles

Lateral soil subgrade modulus to be used in the piled supported analysis model is calculated
based on the geotechnical parameters given in site investigation report and the approch
presented by Glick.G.W (1948 and Bowels.J.E (1996). In this sample calculation a 600 mm
diameter pile in subsoil condition in encountered Borehole 5 is considered. The following
geotechnical data is used as extracted from the geotechnical report.
At the bottom, a pined support is considered for the pile since it is socketed in to basement rock.
The controlled fill is also considered to have no lateral stiffness on the pile.
