SOCIETY'S CONTRIBUTION TO BUSINESS

Society must contribute to the development of business within its sphere of influence. It
must look at business as a transforming and regenerating force within itself experiencing
social change. In this regard, society must work from within for changes. it must serve as
an instrument for business development.
-much progress has been attained in practicing ethics in business, it is the duty of
every individual to defend what society has attained and demand that business
continue its ethical practices.

SOCIETY AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Business is everybodys business. In this view, if societys is to contribute to business

development, then it must accept business as part of its being.
-such relationship is wrapped in the myth, dream, aspiration and ritual of the
people. It seems obvious that business development requires freedom. The people
creates business opportunities. In turn, such opportunities determine business
practice. Thus, business practice are actually done by the people themselves for this
is how society works.

Unless society do something to improve its conditions, business cannot do anything to

improve the economic and social life of its employees

Society must, therefore, create the proper environment for the people or reflect the values
of its people. In turn, peoples values reflect business values. It was for this purpose that
society created the concept of government which later on created the bureaucracy.
(bureaucracy-a large group of people who are involve in running a government but
who are not elected)

Unethical practice in business is deeply rooted in society and is pervasive(existing in

every part of something) in human behavior. Thus, society must concentrate on
understanding the nature of human being. After all, business is managed by people.
-for example, graft and corruption are caused, in most cases, bu selfish and
dishonest people
-graft- acquisition of gain or advantage through abuse or misuse of ones position or
influence whether politics, business
-corruption-misuse or abuse of public office for private gain both in government or
private sector

Societys contribution to business development must be anchored on business ethics and

human nature. Moreover, it should not be incentives to dependency, but incentives to self-
reliance. The distinction has important consequences for both parties
-business goals should be achieved not only with respect for laws, but in achieving
individual and group desires. They should not depart from business ethics, no
matter how good the result will be for business development.
