A Better City, A Better Life

Nowadays, the living conditions in the city are getting worse and worse.

We can see pollution everywhere. Pollution includes air, water, soil, and sound

pollution. At the living area, we can see open combustion, people throwing

rubbish everywhere and the river full of rubbish. In the industrial area, many

factories released polluted smoke to the air while in towns or cities, many cars

released carbon dioxide (CO2) gas from their car emission. We know that car

pollution causes problems to us. Pollution can give effect to our health. It can

cause many types of diseases such as respiratory diseases and drop down the level

of happiness the people that living in such a city. We can improve quality of the

city with three simple ways are designing city uniquely, being more

environmental friendly, and taking sustainable transportation.

First of all, a city with unique design can attract people to enjoy the city

and with an eye-catching infrastructure, the city gets more exciting. Streets are the

most common public spaces, but they are often hostile to pedestrians and cyclists

and end up congested with vehicular traffic. We can painted colourful new

crosswalks. It is increasing pedestrian visibility and safety for the people. Park

and squares are important places in cities when planned right. We can turn the

park into a multi-use destination like small bazaar. It can attract a range of people

for coming together for a shared public experience, building economies, civic

pride, social connection and bring happiness. The more entertainment the city has

to offer the better citizens enjoy living there. Free entertainment is always a plus,

cities that have good natural area offer easy, cheap, entertain. Other forms of
entertainment are golf, courses, theatre, and so forth. We can make the people of

our city more aware of what activity has to offer and encourage development of

new recreational opportunities.

Second, the top ranks in the list of the best places to live in are a city that

are environmentally friendly. Trees add so much shade, serenity, and shore up to

the urban landscape. Cities can give away free trees, have planting services, or

require tree planting permits to check the local rules before we start digging. On

the backyard or garden, we can plant flowers, vegetables, fruits, or tree. To reduce

the amount of litter, it is a good thing to do to add more bins to the city centres,

and advertise the new ways of reducing amount of litter to the people. As a result

we could have cleaner streets and fewer diseases. We can also create recycling

program that can reduce the amount of waste generated and improve the waste

management process. In example we can recycle items like aluminium, cans,

plastic, paper, and glass that can be shaped into a new item.

The last one way to improve quality of the city is taking sustainable

transportation. The greenest and most sustainable of transportation are trains, solar

car, and bicycles. Statistics learn that over 90% of all transportation relies on oil.

This figure almost goes hand-to-hand with the global oil consumption, which

stands at 60%. All this put lots of pressure on the national government to

formulated policies to reverse this worrying trend of pollution. Green vehicles can

be powered by alternative fuels and many of today newest trains are powered by

magnet technology. It uses a permanent magnet motor, which is a modern engine

technology that enables lesser operating costs as well as far reduced

environmental impact. Solar car powered by solar energy obtained from solar

panels on the surface of the car. Photovoltaic (PV) cells convert the suns energy

directly into electrical energy. It provide 99,9% reduction in carbon dioxide (CO 2)

emissions compared to an gasoline or diesel vehicle depending of the source of

electricity. Using bicycle to commute is another great mode of sustainable

transportation. Riding a bicycle instead of driving a car enormously contributes to

ridding the atmosphere of greenhouse gasses.

As a conclusion, making city become better depends on participation of

the people in city and of course with sense of belonging to the city, it will remain

always as home. As we can see, if people can improve quality of the city, it will be

great thing which benefits everyone in the city and, makes our life more

convenient.
