What sport is your passion?Have you ever
played the game of baseball? Do you know
all of the elements to the game? If not
Cedric is here to tell you about the game of
baseball. Cedric's passion is the game of
baseball. Cedric, a 14 year old boy, was born
in Iowa City, IA. He has a brother named
Elliot who is 12. Cedric loves to play sports.
Cedric plays so many sports including
baseball, basketball, track, swimming, and
cross country . But out of all of those sports
his favorite is Baseball. Cedric also plays one
instrument which is the drums.
The game of baseball is not easy, although
many people say it's not even a sport. But
what if Cedric told you go throw a curve ball
into the strike zone, or go and field ground
balls without errors and get the ball to 1st
base without it touching the ground.
Baseball is not an easy game. There are so
many elements and details to the game you
have to know and be able to do.
Cedric has been through a lot in this game.
He has had struggles pitching. But now he is
more comfortable on the mound and
pitches when the team needs him. Cedric
plays on 14u Little Hawks Baseball Club.
This game takes a lot of time commitment.
Cedric's plays 3rd base, catcher, pitcher and
other positions when needed. "My favorite
position is catcher because I feel involved
more in the game. Also you get to touch the
ball every pitch and makes me feel more
interactive
in the game. Also you get to tell the pitcher
what to throw. It is also probably the best
workout you get playing the game" states
Cedric.
"This is my favorite sport because of the
weather, you get to enjoy the beautiful days
in the summer and spend your day outside
playing in baseball tournaments. I also like
this sport because you always play in two
day tournaments and it is much better than
one day tournaments that you have to
cramp everything in one day,"says Cedric.
We also asked one of his teammatesKolby
Kucera whathisfavorite part of the game,
"My favorite part of the game is when we are
out in the field, and that's when you can
change the game by stopping the other team
from scoring," says Kolby Kucera.
One player that Cedric looks up to in the
Major Leagues is Yadier Molina who catches
for the Cardinals. Another player he looks
up to is Nolan Arenado who is a 3rd
baseman for the Colorado Rockies. Cedric's
favorite Major League Baseball team is the
Chicago Cubs, he has like this team since
day one, even when they were not good.
When Cedric first started the game he was
in kindergarten playing T-ball. Then he
played for the Iowa City league down at City
Park. Then after a couple years this was a
sport that he really enjoy so he wanted to
play at a higher level of competition. So
then he joined a club team here in town
called the City High Baseball Club. This is a
team where you traveled more and you
played at a lot higher competition than the
city league. Cedric started this club team
