Employee security in corporate cabs.

In corporate world now every company is providing a cab for their

employees but the problem is that employees are facing a problem in cab
like drink and driving and also dangerous to female employee especially
when if they are working in night shifts.

So to overcome this problem we are going to design a system which will

ensure security for workers with the help of internet and facilities like GSM
and GPS which will use in tracking and mapping cab for security purpose.

This project describes an automatic information, alarm and tracking system

that could provide a real time solution for the security of the employees who
use the cab (transport) facility provided by the company. As the system is
incorporated with an alcohol sensor, it provides solution to drunken driving as
well. At the same time, employer can keep track of the current location of the
cab, employee's pick up and drop o points and check whether driver

is deviating from the actual route. A GPS GSM Based Vehicle Tracking and
Employee Security System combine the installation of an electronic device in
a vehicle, with purpose-designed computer software to enable the company
to track the vehicle's location. In vehicle tracking systems we use Global
Positioning System (GPS) technology for locating the vehicle. Vehicle
information can be viewed on electronic maps via the Internet .

Employee security in corporate cabs.

Introduction
As the need for the work force increases in corporate world, so does the re-
quirement of an e cient transport facility for the employees. Almost all the
companies provide cab facility. One of the major problems that the company
faces is, keeping track of the cabs and the security of the employees,
especially female employees. If the cab breaks down or get stuck in tra c,
employer should have some means to get the knowhow of the cab
immediately. There can be a possibility of the cab driver being drunk posing a
danger to em-ployee's life. If an attempt is made to harass an employee in the
cab there has to be a system that could inform the company about the same.
Hence a system that could provide a real time solution for employee security
is indis-pensable. As of now a dedicated system for the security of employees
who use company cab do not exist. Keeping these problems in mind an
attempt is made to create a system that could provide a solution for this
multifaceted problem. The system is incorporated with a GPS module so that
the cab can be tracked. A GSM modem helps to communicate with the base.
GSM is Global system for mobile communication, a globally accepted
standard for digital cellular communication. It is necessary to keep an account
of the employees who are using the cab facility, for this the Radio-Frequency
Identi cation (RFID) technology is used. Push buttons are placed in the cab
near driver that could be pressed to inform the base (employer) about any
break down or a tra c jam. A panic button is also put that could be pressed in
case of any kind of harassment. In order to avoid drunken driving an alcohol
sensor is used which does not allow the cab to start if the driver has
consumed alcohol. All the operations are controlled by LPC2148 which has
ARM7TDMI processor. It is a member of the Advanced RISC machine family
of general purpose 32-bit microprocessor. With an increasing concern
regarding employee security, on-time and safe pick drop service has become
extremely important for corporates. Processes like remote mapping are de-
ployed in order to achieve an immediate noti cation in case if any deviation is
encountered. Synergy telemetric provides dispatch and GPS tracking sys-
tems to manage all of the employee mobility related data. Our expertise can
help you better maintain your existing business while achieving overall
growth. Our solutions have been developed with highest quality of service and

employees and safe dropping is one of the major service of their transport
department.

SYSTEM OVERVIEW
In this project we proposed GSM GPS based system for Vehicle Tracking and
Employee Security System. It consists of car unit, emergency button and
company unit. Car unit is placed inside the car. When the car picks up the
employee; he/she needs to swap the RF card. The micro controller matches
the RF card no. with its database records and sends International Journal of
Computer Applications the employee's id, cab id the cab position co-ordinates
to the company unit via GSM module. Emergency button is a part of car unit.
There are three to four emergency buttons in the car. These buttons are
placed at such position so that employee can access them easily i.e. near the
door unlocking handle. If employee nds himself/herself in a problem, he/she
will press the button. Microcontroller will detect the action sends a signal to
the GSM which will coordinate with to the company unit and police.
Microcontroller will also send a signal to the relay which will turn o the car
ignition stop the car. Company unit consists of GSM modem, RS232 cable
computer. The GSM Modem will receive the mes-sage through GSM. This
message will then be transferred to the computer through the serial port. The
employee name, employee id cab position coor-dinates (longitude and
latitude) get displayed on computer. The visual basic software reads the co-
ordinates and displays the vehicle location. In this way the company unit
keeps a track of the vehicle.[4]

Figure 1 show the blocks of all the hardware that are used in the project.
All operations are controlled by LPC2148 controller. The gure contains the
RFID block which is used to keep an account of employees entering or
leaving the cab. It has the alcohol sensor block that is used to prevent
drunken driv-ing. It further has the GSM and GPS blocks which form the
link between the employer and the cab and helps in locating the cab
respectively. The push buttons are shown as Bl, B2 and B3. The driver
unit drives the stepper motor and is used in the ignition of the vehicle. The
base station is shown connected to a RFID reader that is used for
registration of the employees. The GSM block connected to the base
station is used to communicate with the cab.

Before the driver ignites the engine he/she has to blow/exhale into the hand-
held alcohol sensor. Driver's breath alcohol content is analyzed and the cab
starts only if the alcohol is not consumed. Once the cab stops at any pick

up point. The employee to board tap the RFID card given to him/her on
the reader, once the card is read the door opens (controlled by the
stepper motor) and the GSM sends information about that particular
employee to the base. The cab is in a continuous surveillance of the
company as the GPS readings are being sent to the base continuously.

GSM

GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) is a digital mobile tele-phony

system it is use to send the employee's id, cab id the cab position co-
ordinates to the company unit via GSM module. It also used to the SMS to the
police as well as company unit when employee is in emergency.

The display section consists of 16*2 LCD, which used to display Summary of
IC being Inserted and result of test being conducted .LCDs can add a lot to
your application in terms of providing an useful interface for the user,
debugging an application or just giving it a "professional" look. The most
common type of LCD controller is the Hitatchi 44780 which provides a rela-
tively simple interface between a processor and an LCD.

ARM
ARM is a family of instruction set architectures for computer processors based
on a reduced instruction set computing (RISC) architecture devel-oped by
British company ARM Holdings. A RISC-based computer design approach
means ARM processors require signi cantly fewer transistors than typical
processors in average computers. This approach reduces costs, heat and
power use. These are desirable traits for light, portable, battery-powered
devices|including smartphones, laptops, tablet and notepad computers), and
other embedded systems. A simpler design facilitates more e cient multicore
CPUs and higher core counts at lower cost, providing higher pro-cessing
power and improved energy e ciency for servers and supercomputers.

5.4 Radio Frequency Identi cation Reader

(RFID Reader)
A radio frequency identi cation reader (RFID reader) is a device used to
gather information from an RFID tag, which is used to track individual ob-
jects. Radio waves are used to transfer data from the tag to a reader. RFID is
a technology similar in theory to bar codes. However, the RFID tag does not
have to be scanned directly, nor does it require line-of-sight to a reader. The
RFID tag it must be within the range of an RFID reader, which ranges from 3
to 300 feet, in order to be read. RFID technology allows several items to be
quickly scanned and enables fast identi cation of a particular product.

Figure 5.6: RFID READER

JSPM`s,Rajashri Shahu College of Engg. Dept.of E & TC 2016-2017 20
Employee security in corporate cabs.

An RFID reader's function is to interrogate RFID tags. The means of

interrogation is wireless and because the distance is relatively short; line of
sight between the reader and tags is not necessary. A reader contains an RF
module, which acts as both a transmitter and receiver of radio frequency
signals. The transmitter consists of an oscillator to create the carrier fre-
quency; a modulator to impinge data commands upon this carrier signal and
an ampli er to boost the signal enough to awaken the tag. The receiver has a
demodulator to extract the returned data and also contains an ampli er to
strengthen the signal for processing. A microprocessor forms the control unit,
which employs an operating system and memory to lter and store the data.
The data is now ready to be sent to the network.

GPS
Global Positioning System is a worldwide radio-navigation system formed
from a constellation of 24 satellites and their ground stations.

A simplistic explanation: GPS uses these \man-made stars" as reference

points to calculate positions accurate to a matter of meters.

CONCLUSION
The system provides a very e cient method of tracking and maintaining an
account of the cab that is employed for the transportation of the employees.
The security of the employee is given prime importance. Many factors are taken
into consideration so that an employee may feel comfortable and safe inside
the cab. A large amount of paper work and book keeping reduces as it
introduces a completely automatic database management system.
