SCENE THREE: INT. STUDY MIDDAY

SUSAN
Please, have a seat, Mr. Creed
Do you mind if I call you Logan?
LOGAN
Thats fine
SUSAN
And how did you come to find me?
LOGAN
(*Nervous) I saw your ad in one of those
m-magazines they deliver in the mail, the
juicy paper
SUSAN
You probably saw my ad, about smoking
Guaranteed results all your money back
LOGAN
(*Raise tone) I dont smoke
SUSAN
Well then why are you here
LOGAN
Your ad said something about curbing
compulsions
SUSAN
(*Enthusiastically) Absolutely. Ive found
hypnosis to be one of the most powerful

5
weapons in a therapists arsenal
LOGAN
I want to stop. I really do. If I have to
go on mediation or something, Ill try
whatever
SUSAN
Tell me about the behavior you want to
curtail. Start from the beginning
LOGAN
I, I always, uh had these impulses, you
know even as a kid. The first time I tried
it, it was scary.
But it felt amazing.

Its like my body came alive. It's a shame

because when my foster family found out
what I was doing, they kicked me out.

Its a shame really, so many people have

such a negative reaction to something so
natural.

SUSAN
Was that the first time you? Touched
yourself?
LOGAN
(*Annoyed) NO! I skinned a deer.
It was already dead
SUSAN
So you went around finding dead animals.
LOGAN
Yeah. First couple of times. Then I learnt
killing them was just as fun, maybe even
better

6
SUSAN
And this compulsion to do these things
followed you to your adult life?
LOGAN
No, I dont harm animals anymore
I havent since I was a teenager

LOGAN
Did you know that killing animals is a
well-established predictor of psychopathic
behavior? I learned that in prison. But it
got me thinking.
What made me the way I am? Who were my
real parents? Well, they had a computer in
the prison and I had nothing but time, so
-
SUSAN
Mr. Creed, you know, I-I may not be
qualified to help you.
LOGAN
No, you have to, you have to help, Doc.
I dont know what to do these thoughts
they havent stopped. If anything the urge
gets stronger.
SUSAN
Wait. You mentioned prison? Why were you
convicted?
LOGAN
(*Hesitant) My..my wife..
SUSAN
What happened?

7
LOGAN
We got in a violent argument, and she got
severely injured, ever since I wished I
could have taken it back. 20 minutes after
the incident, the cops came and took me
in. They put me in the slammer for
domestic violence.
SUSAN
What happened to her after that?
LOGAN
She was fine, until she killed herself.
SUSAN
Oh my god, I am so sorry
LOGAN
(*Tone rising) Yeah, a week before I was
released she shot herself. Guess she
didnt love me as much as I loved her.
I couldnt stand that she was gone. I dag
her up, out of her shallow grave, and
skinned her. As a memento you could say. I
never wanted to part from her, and now I
never will.
Now I cant stop the constant thoughts,
every day and every night.
SUSAN
And what do those thoughts tell you to do?
LOGAN
Theyre telling me to retrace my roots, to
hurt women. Skin them. Like the cats.
SUSAN
(*Scared)You need to see someone else. I
cant do this Im sorry, I feel like one
of my colleagues who is more suited to
this problem could help. Would you please
hold on for a second while I go and call

8
him.
LOGAN
Ugh b-utt wait.

quickly and slams the door)
