I. INTRODUCTION

Literacy is the in word today in education. We all want our children to

read. Early. But literacy is not something we simply teach, and its not
something a child starts to learn when he or she enters school. Its a
complex process that starts at birth, and includes a child learning in four
basic areas: language, listening, writing, and readingall at the same
time!
Reading is important because it develops the mind. The mind is a
muscle. It needs exercise. Understanding the written word is one way the
mind grows in its ability. Teaching young children to read helps them
develop their language skills. It also helps them learn to listen.

As future teachers, we are always looking for ways to learn how to

motivate students to love reading. We all know the rewards of reading are
immense; aside from enhancing our communication skills, it also helps
reduce stress. Nevertheless, many children still cringe at the thought of
reading, but we are here to help children improve their skill in reading.

The name of the child is Jennel L. Estrada. She is grade 2 in Putatan

Elementary School.

My aim to this child is to encourage her to love for reading!

II. THE TEACHER'S ACT

A. Problems

Jennel L. Estrada is a grade two pupil in Putatan Elementary

School. She is 8 years old. She lived together with her parents and
siblings.
She can read but she needs still a guide to help her pronounce the
right words especially in English. Because of this, she needs more
time to spend for reading for her to be able to read Tagalog and
English.
The problem is how to encourage Jennel love for reading and
spend more of her time for it.

B. Solutions
The only solution for this is to motivate first the child. Make the child
imagine how beautiful the life is when she can go with our society.
When I approach her mother, she smile at me because it is also her
problem to help Jennel love for reading. She says that she want her
daughter can read and love it. Because she doesnt want Jennel will be
like her who cant read.
As I approach also Jennel, I asked her first why she dont want to
read. I want to read but I also want to play with my cousins. - Jennel
said.
I invest books like Story Books and Coloring Books and Fables.
I get her attention and trust at me, thats why I easily encourage her to
let me to teach her and importance of it for her able to love it.

III. CONCLUSIONS

Therefore, I conclude that Jennel spend more of her time to play with

her cousins and neighbours but when I asked her to give me her time for

three days I will show her how she need love for reading. Then she replied

to my question, YES. This part of giving me her time, I conclude that

there still a part in her heart that she want to read and by with me.

And as her tutor for now, I see how she pursue herself to love

reading. She never shies to read with me. She read aloud and I will ask

her what was happen in the story.

IV. RECOMMENDATIONS

I gladly recommend that:

1.Time for her to continue her reading.

2.Invest more books that the childs want.
