HealthWay partners with Maryland State Employees Association

Maryland State Employee Association has selected HealthWay Pharmacies, Inc.

to provide Maryland state employees with mail-in prescription services.

BALTIMORE March 8, 2017 Starting this month, Healthway Pharmacies, Inc.

will provide mail-in pharmacy services to the over one million members of the Maryland

State Employees Association for the next four years.

This new customer base will double HealthWays Mail-Med service over the next

two years. This is the first time the employee association health system will offer the

option for a mail-in prescription service to their members.

We have worked hard to develop this partnership with HealthWay in hopes of

adapting our health care services to better fit the needs of Maryland state employees,

said J.D. Smith, Director of the Health Insurance Division of the Maryland State

Employee Association.

In order to maintain the security of state employees personal information,

HealthWay will open a new facility in Columbia, Maryland to hold the new prescription

records. Financial support for this new facility will be provided by the Maryland Office of

Economic Development under the New Jobs, New Opportunities initiative.

The new facility is expected to create 40 non-professional job openings as well

as employ licensed pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
