Assignment 1: OSHA

Aim:
To provide a knowledge and skills in occupational safety and health
(OSHA) at workplace.

Main objective:
Classify the safety and health program to meet the work place
requirements; (PLO1-K-C3)

Outcome from the project:


At the end of the project, student will be able to understand the concept
of health, safety and environment managements as stated in OSHA
1994 (Act 514), FMA 1967, EQA 1974, Occupational Safety and Health
Management System, Safety, Health and Environment Culture.

Task:
This is an assignment that requires student working in group
(maximum 6 students) to complete the specific task as given below. A
report (less than 10 pages) will be presented for this assignment. You
are required to obtain and discuss the related articles from the
references (i.e. news, books and newspaper cutting etc.) to elaborate
more on any recent accident issues in the workplace.

Issues:

1. The necessary application of OSHA 1994 (Act 514), FMA 1967 (Act.
139), EQA 1974 (Act. 127), Occupational Safety and Health
Management System, Malaysian Standard their regulations, the roles
of the stakeholders (employer), employee etc. to make sure
comprehensive health and safety system can be implemented in the
workplace.

2. The requirements of Inculcating Safety Culture and describe the


importance of the documents (i.e. regulations, policies, guidelines,
order etc.) to drive Malaysia in competitive edge.

3. The role of engineers, safety officers etc. to train a safety and health
personnel based on Occupational Safety and Health Malaysian Plan
2015 (OSH-MP 15).

This assignment covers 10% of overall coursework.
