The purpose of this study is to help pupils to improve on their mastery of the concept of

water cycle in the year 5 pupils with using experimental method. Action Model Kurt Lewin
(1948) has been used as a guide in the implementation of this study, which involves the
process of planning, action, observation and reflection. This study was carried out on five
pupils which were 11 years at a school in the suburban town of Tamparuli, Sabah.
Participants were chosen based on the diagnostic test scores which were almost passed. To
answer the research questions, data collection such as written test, analysis of documents
and interview were used. Three of these instruments were used as data triangulation to
increase the validity and reliability of this study. Data from written test was analysed
quantitatively while analysis of documents and interview were analysed qualitatively. Based
on the data obtained, pupils mastery of the water cycle can be improved using the
experimental method. This was proven, because there was an increase scores in diagnostic
test which was from fail to excellent. This was supported through conducting the work of the
pupils and interview. This proved that experimental method have increased the mastery of
concept of water cycle and its importance. In further study, the experimental method can be
implemented individually or in pairs so that each pupil can take part in the experiment. In
such case, every pupil had the opportunity to experience the process of water cycle.
