Zapin is a traditional dance that is popular in the state of Johor, Pahang and Selangor. It
is believed to have been introduced here by missionaries from the Middle East in the fourteenth
century.
Originally, this dance was performed during religious ceremonies but throughout the
years it has become a form a traditional entertainment. The dancers usually perform in pairs and
are accompanied by a traditional music ensemble, consisting of a gambus, accordion, rebab,

Mount Mulu is the second highest mountain in Sarawak after Mount Murud. Its
highest point is 2,376m. This mountain is located within the boundaries of the Mount
Mulu National Park.

This mountain is famous for its hiking activities. Hiking enthusiasts usually spend
about four days and three nights trekking the mountain. There are forest huts along the
designated hiking route that provide shelter and cooking facilities. The trail to the summit
of Mount Mulu is clear and well-marked with red and white markers to facilitate hikers.
The mountain is famous for its wide variety of pitcher plants.

Hikers are advised to wear long pants to avoid tiny leeches especially after it rains.
The hike down is more challenging than the hike up, but the ladders and ropes are kept in
great condition. The squat frog and stream toad are some of the few amphibians that can
only be found at Mount Mulu.
