About the Truths of Anabolic Steroids

Research Question:

What are the views of anabolic steroids between active men and women out of college?

Hypothesis:

Men are more likely to have more interest than women when it comes to using anabolic steroids

Background/History of the Issue:

The topic of using anabolic steroids is a huge topic that is very commonly brought up in the

workout industry. In the past, steroids were so commonly used that it was not even a thing to

bring up. Everyone, even people in competition, were using anabolic steroids and not having

anyone say something about it. Now it is such a controversial topic that can be seen with

anything that is in fitness industry. There are now competitions that deal with only people that

are naturally built instead of people that use steroids to get bigger. In addition, it is a very

controversial topic when it comes to sports. You could see multiple huge cases when major sport

players have been caught using and have suffered harsh consequences.

Rationale:

This is a really important topic because it is so commonly seen in fitness areas and all types of

sports. People are always using steroids as an awful term that should never be used in any sort of

way. Dont get me wrong steroids are definitely not the best thing for you, but most people need

to be more educated before they talk about what these substances do or dont do for you. This is
a very controversial topic with who ever you talk to and can be a very intense conversation with

people that understand the use of steroids. Also there are many people that are being admired and

that are using steroids to better themselves in whatever they do without people knowing how to

properly use these substances. Many people would see big bodybuilders using steroids and think

that they automatically need to use them and will get really big. Overall, I think it is important

for people to know more specifics about anabolic steroids and how certain groups of people view

them.

Basis of Hypothesis:

I focused my hypothesis on men and women because it is good to be able to compare both

genders in the workout lifestyle. It is good to get both viewpoints because a majority of the time,

men and women would view working out in different fashions. I believe that men care more

about the topic of anabolic steroids because I feel that men have more competition when it comes

to how the body looks. Dont get me wrong, women have beauty competitions throughout their

entire life, but I feel that men have to worry about how big their muscles are, are how nice their

six pack is all the time. Typically women dont really care with the fact of being super bulky and

would rather just like to be slim or nice looking. Typically Men are on the opposite side of that,

where they would rather have a bulky look and want to have bigger muscles. In addition, most of

the articles that I have seen so far are based mainly towards men because it is most commonly

used with that gender. Just from my personal experience, I have found that men are more worried

about how big they look than women, so steroids would be more commonly looked at by men.
