Indias Partition in 1947

February - March, 2017 - Harvard Seminar on the

Partition of British India
The World Tends to Glorify Those Who Bring Division
The partition of India was a human tragedy that caused so much violence, that it
cannot be overlooked. It marked the beginning of an era of extremism and hate
between Muslims and Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, and other non-
Muslims. The sad part is that leaders who fought for unity and a
united India are projected as traitors or insurgents. Meanwhile, the
leaders whose politics and endorsement of partition resulted in the
division of families, the death of over one million people, rape, and
ongoing hostility, have been elevated as heroes and champions of
freedom.

How can peace between Pakistan and India ever be achieved with this
mindset? In this frightening time, a change is needed. This change
shall only occur if we elevate those who sought to unite people of all
faiths and elect leaders who uphold these ideals.
