EXCERPT FROM THE MINUTES OF THE 28TH REGULAR SESSION OF THE 33RD
SANGGUNIANG PANLUNGSOD OF THE CITY OF ILOILO, PHILIPPINES, HELD AT
THE SESSION HALL, ILOILO TERMINAL MARKET BUILDING, J. DE LEON STREET,
ILOILO CITY, ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 27, 2011.

ABSENT:
WHEREAS, the selling of spiders is rampant in school premises which unduly entice
some students to spend their money intended for their food and school needs while other
students trade their personal belongings in exchange of spiders;
WHEREAS, many students are also habitually engaged in spider-fighting which has
become widespread in school campuses or school zones thereby distracting their concentration to
study or finish their schoolwork;
WHEREAS, spider-fighting in school premises and/or school zones more often than not

private educational institutions, to prohibit and penalize the selling and trading of all kinds of
spiders and the holding of spider-fighting within school zones.
Section 1. - Selling or trading in any form of all kinds of spiders, and holding spider-
fighting is hereby prohibited/banned within five hundred (500) meters from public and private
schools in the City oflloilo.
Section 2. (a.) - Any person who violates this ordinance shall be punishable with a fine of
not less than one hundred pesos (Php 100. 00) but not exceeding three hundred pesos (Php
300. 00) or imprisonment of not more than two (2) days or both such fine and imprisonment at
the discretion of the court PROVIDED, HOWEVER, the second and succeeding violation of
this ordinance shall be punishable with a fine of not less than three hundred pesos (Php 300. 00)
and not exceeding one thousand pesos (Pl,000.00) or imprisonment of not less than (five) 5
days but not more than thirty (30) days or both such fine and imprisonment at the discretion of
the court
(b.) In case the offender is a minor, he shall be proceeded against in accordance with
the Rule on Juveniles in conflict with the law.
Section 3. Repealing Clause. - All ordinances and resolutions inconsistent herewith are
hereby considered repealed or modified accordingly.
Section 4. Separability Clause. - In the event that any of the provisions of this ordinance
is declared illegal, the validity of the other provisions shall not be affected by such declarations.
Section 5. Effectivity. - This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
