What you watched, what were they selling you, how did they use Ethos, Logos

and/or Pathos
Commercial One: Morgan Freeman Listerine
The commercial was an attempt to sell me Listerine anti-septic mouthwash.
Utilizing Pathos, Morgan Freeman was at the time and still is a well-known actor. His
reputation for seeming trustworthy landed him the role of God in Bruce
Almighty. They also have two workers discuss how they know whether or not a
product works. This pun reinforces their conclusion psychologically. They use logos
with the logic that if it tasted good it would not be aby good, because good tasting
drinks rot your teeth.
Commercial Two: Head-On
The commercial is attempting to sell me headache medication. The use of
repetition causes the audience emotionally agree with the statement. This ethos is a
known and common form of brainwashing. The commercial also uses logos in
referencing, at the end, the one shouldnt not buy it because of inconvenience as it
available without a prescription at retailers nationwide.
Commercial Three: Naptime!
The commercial is attempting to satirically sell chloroform. The use of pathos
by stating that the product was created by military trained doctor scientists from
NASA, showing its use by commoners, providing examples of its effectiveness, and
also witness testimony from a doctor. They use ethos by providing instances of child
temper tantrums to remind the audience of what they can avoid if they use this
product.
Commercial Four: Panda Cheese
The commercial is attempting to sell panda brand cheese. They use ethos by
demonstrating the negative effects of not buying their product. This by way of
empathy toward your fellow humans should make you feel like buying the product
out of a desire to avoid the same fate. They also use logos by showing the
consequences of not buying the product. The logic of inductive reasoning is used
here to suggest that there is a pattern with not buying their product and suffering,
so you should logically want to buy their product to avoid suffering.
