1.

According to President Mandela, as portrayed by Morgan Freeman in this film, what

is the essence of leadership?
Faithful and forgiveness.

2. What are some traits we see in President Mandelas character that shows hes a
good leader?
He cares about others and not just about himself, hes polite, he listens to everyones opinion
and considers it before making a decision, he is forgiving, hes modest, hes respectful, hes
humble, and he tells the truth.

3. Whats Francois philosophy of leadership? Is it a good one?

Francois said that his philosophy of leadership is that he likes to lead by example. Mandela
agrees, and I have my reasons to agree and disagree. If the leader before them was not a
good leader, why follow their footsteps to perform the same way they had, but then again if
the leader before the, actually had a good message and is a good leader (like we see in
Mandela in the film) then it is best that they follow their footsteps in order to achieve what they
have achieved and even more.

4. What are some leadership traits we see in Francois?

As a player, Francois has a greater influence over the rest of the team, little personal
authority, he puts in a lot of effort, forces his team to push themselves as hard as he is doing,
humble, shares the stage, and caring.

5. What does the poem Invictus mean to Mandela? What might we expect Invictus
to mean for South Africa as a nation?
The poem talks about everyone and the people around them and that every man and
woman have their own fights, big or small all for several different reasons. He recited the
poem over and over while he was in jail and it gave him the strength to endure all those
terrible years he spent inside a tiny jail cell. That everyone will realize that the problems they
have do not only occur to them. They will realize that we all have our own problems and we
have to learn to not give up and to conquer them.
