Valuing play

About the project

Drama and play are mainly used as a means for language development
and the target group for these activities is primary school students.
Systemic approach to drama by developing specific guidelines for
implementation of drama in preschool education and the focus on the
importance of drama for the overall development highlights the innovative
value of our project. Teachers in many EU countries will acquire a
practically useful methodology for social and emotional development of
preschool children through drama and play.

The objectives of the partnership are as follows:
- development of the set of innovative educational resources for
integration of play and drama within early childhood educational process;
- promotion of early childhood teachers professional development and
experience exchange;
- testing in educational practice the innovative pedagogical approaches
and methods;
- encouragement of parental involvement and motivation;
- promotion of dissemination of the best practices among early childhood
teachers.
The project is addressed for the following target groups:
- teachers working in ECEC settings;
- children involved in ECEC;
- parents and other family members;
- children an families with fewer opportunities (cultural differences, socio-
economic obstacles, learning difficulties);
- the results of the project could also be used in the primary education,
non-formal education, special education.
WOR K PR OC ESS
- development of drama guidelines for early childhood education including
the innovative methodology;
- development of the research study and scientific methodological posters
by analyzing scientific literature and empirical experience and by
implementing the pedagogical research;
- development of a set of teaching resources including collection of drama
exercises, games and videos by selecting and creatively developing
educational materials that meet the requirements, needs and interests of
children;
- creating the collection of fairy tale dramatizations based on folk tales;
- testing the innovative learning content within children centered
pedagogical processes;
- active parental involvement into the local activities;
E X P E C TED R ESU LTS
The main output of the project will be drama guidelines for preschool.
They will contain theoretical basis and practical methodological
recommendations. The innovative methodology provided will be the main
added value of our co-operation. However, it is worth to state that
practionners are more interested to obtain new resources that they can
use even not knowing any methodology. In this context, the book of drama
exercises and games and the book of fairy tale dramatizations could
become even more popular and used in practice.
