1 -Apply for and accept a full time position in a university recruitment, talent
acquisition, or training and development capacity with the human resources
department of a company in the Seattle area OR in any entry-level position in
career services at a college or university in Seattle.
- Maintain mentoring relationships with SDA alumni living in the Seattle area who
have pursued a pathway in human resources (including employee development,
on-boarding, and training and development)
- Identify potential new mentors at first job

2 -Attend and present at either a local, regional or national MPACE or NACE -National Association of Colleges and Employers
conference on a career-development-related topic or career counseling a specific (NACE) OR
population. -Mountain Pacific Association of Colleges and
Employers (MPACE)
3 -Move into a managerial level role within Human Resources or Campus -Earn MBTI (Meyers-Briggs Personality Type
Recruiting at current place of work, OR into an assistant director role within Indicator) Certification; gain practice with
career services. administering the MBTI with adults
-Maintain contacts and professional relationships with career education -Earn PHR (Professional in Human Resources)
professionals at universities in both western Washington and southern California. Certification

4 -Return to student affairs (if not already working in student affairs) as an employer -National Association of Colleges and Employers
relations specialist, career advisor or internship coordinator within a career center. (NACE)
-Develop relationships between universities and employers by connecting students -National Association of Student Affairs
with internship opportunities and promoting experiential learning campus-wide Professionals (NASPA)

5 -Work with faculty and employers to incorporate career development into -National Association of Colleges and Employers
university curriculum. (NACE)
-Create or direct an already existing peer mentorship program within career -National Association of Student Affairs
