FX= Chair being scrapped back and being pulled forwards as TOM
sits down.

POLICE OFFICER

TOM

POLICE OFFICER

23rd of August 2016 10:30. So basically this is going to work
by me asking you some questions, nothing too difficult, just
about your friends..

 TOM
Yes, of course ok.

POLICE OFFICER
Brilliant, so TOM MORE, age 19, only child. Originally from
Dover but has been studying at Clifton College in Bristol
since 2009. Why Clifton?

TOM
What do you mean?

POLICE OFFICER
I mean, why did you choose to study at Clifton? What brought
you to the area?

TOM
I dont know, I just liked it I guess.

POLICE OFFICER (Slowly gets angrier)

FX=Footsteps begins to walk around the room

You got high-test results, you could have gone to almost any
school you wanted to, school much closer to home but you
decided to go to a college on the other side of England, away
from your friends and your father. No there is a reason why
you decided to go all that way.

FX=Walks to desk
FX=Slams hands onto the table

So now that we both know that I will be able to tell when you
are lying to me, I am going to ask you again, why Clifton?
TOM (Panicked)
Ok ok, it is not a big deal; I decided to go there, as it is
the college my mother attended. I dont know, it just made me
feel closer to her, it felt right that I should go there.

POLICE OFFICER (calmly)

Thank you, so explain your friendship with ROBERT YATES.

TOM
Well we met on the first day of college; we both were looking
lost, wondering round like idiots, after that we just ended up
seeing each other as he knew JULIA.

POLICE OFFICER
So know can you explain your friendship with JULIA?

TOM
Well JULIA and I met on the first day as well, I guess, she
was in my Business class but like we didnt talk to each
other, she was all up in peoples faces and honestly she
annoyed me. It was only after me and ROBERT began to hang out
more that I started to be friends with JULIA, as she was
friends with ROBERT. And we have been ever since, we would
look after each other, like when ROBERT was getting bullied
for getting a scholarship instead of being able to afford to
go there.

Silence
POLICE OFFICER
Thank you, ok know Im going to ask you about what happened,
can you please explain what happened, in as much detail as
possible?

TOM
Ok well I guess it all started about a month ago, JULIA and
ROBERT were having problems.
 POLICE OFFICER

By problems, Im assuming you mean relationship problems?

TOM
Oh yeah, sorry, yeah they started dating in year 10, wow that
seems like such a long time ago, well I guess it was, a lot
has happened in the last 3 years.
Anyway, they started to argue more, not a lot that anyone
would notice but still more than usual. The only reason why I
knew about it was that they began to complain to be about the
other one; I dont like being in the middle of their
relationship but it became one of the only things we spoke
about.

Silence

And then the break up happened. I remember getting a text

from ROBERT at about three, yeah about three as I just
finished work.

EXT. TOWN CENTRE - AFTERNOON
Fx= Traffic sounds amplify
Fx= Text alert
FX=footsteps
TOM
I did it, I finally did it.

TOM (Talking to himself)

Fx= footsteps stop

FX= ring tone as TOM calls ROBERT
ROBERT
TOM I did it.

TOM
FX= footsteps as TOM begins to walk

What, calm down, what did you do?

ROBERT
I dumped her, I dumped JULIA

TOM
WHAT! I thought you two were beginning to work things out

ROBERT
We tried but it wasnt working, I just couldnt deal with
the arguments I had to get out of there.

TOM
Ah fair, how did she handle it; wait you didnt do it
over text did you?
 ROBERT
Nah I went to her house, I dont know how she is doing,
dont think that badly, she just asked me to leave and
she went inside.

TOM
Ok well she will probably just go and get drunk or
something, I dont know, how do people react after a 4
year long relationship?

FX= Vibrating from phone

FX= zipper sound as TOM checks his phone

Oh shit, its her, got to go, talk later.

ROBERT
Tell me how it goes ok?

FX= Banging at the door

JULIA
TOM open the fucking door, I know your home.

TOM
JULIA, I just finished work, im nearly home, just wait
for me.
FX=TOM begins to run

JULIA

TOM
JULIA are you ok.
 JULIA
Yeah Im fine, Ive got all I need in life, got my best
pall to my right and you on the phone.

TOM
Wait whos with you.

JULIA
Dont worry, almost in town, where are you? Wait doesnt
matter I can see you.

TOMMMM!!!

TOM
JULIA you ok?
JUILIA
Yeah why wouldnt me be?? Oh because the love of my life
left me for some skank?
TOM
ROBERT wouldnt leave you for anyone

JULIA
I know, because he is perfect

FX= Glass bottle hitting a bench

TOM
What was that, are you drinking?
JULIA
No, that would be sad.

TOM

JULIA

FX= Bottle smashing on the floor

JULIA

TOM
Ok thats it, Im taking you home, come on. This is not
the way to deal with it.

JULIA
Why did he do this, I know we were having problems but
who ends a four year relationship because of a couple
arguments, like I even met his little sister, granted she
didnt like me.. but still.

TOM
Come on, Im getting you home.

FX=TV in the background
FX= Phone rings

ROBERT
FX=Sounds from a pub
Hey TOM, how did it go?
 TOM
It went alright, I guess, I found her in town clutching onto a
wine bottle like a mother would hold onto her baby.

ROBERT
Oh, so not very well then, shame
FX=TOM sits up (squeak from bed springs)
TOM
You really dont care do you?

ROBERT
Honestly Im just loving the feeling of being free, seriously
I dont care if I ever see her again, he caused me so much
stress and problems.

FX=Cheering from the background

TOM

ROBERT
Oh Im out, just down the pub with some people-

ROBERT

TOM

Ok sorry, um ok so the next big situation happened two weeks
later, I got a phone call from JULIA at roughly 8 in the
morning.

INT. TOMS KITCHEN MORNING
Sizzling sounds from breakfast
FX=Phone rings
FX=Traffic sounds
FX= kitchen noise
FX= microwave sound
FX= Walking sound

TOM
Hi JULIA, I am a bit busy right now can I call you-

JULIA
TOM please tell me you were not just going to tell your
clearly hungover and recently dumped best friend that you
cant talk right now.

TOM
I guess I can talk, give me a second.

JULIA
Iv made a life decision

TOM
Oh really, what is this life decision?

JULIA
Ive decided that me breaking up with ROBERT was the best
decision Ive ever made.

TOM
JULIA, you were the one that was dumped.

JULIA
Irrelevant. Anyway, me and him were a bad fit anyway, he was
always wanted to play video games instead of go out clubbing,
like we are complete opposites, he was dragging me down, Im
better off alone, thats how I was brought up and nothing bad
happened.

JULIAthis is nothing like your mother.

JULIA (upset)
Who said anything about my mother, I dont care that she left
me to jump from boarding school to boarding school. This is
about ROBERT being a stick in the mud. I have to go.

POLICE OFFICER
Thank you TOM, that is enough background information, please
talk about the night of the 17th August.

TOM
Of course, well I first found out about Julia through ROBERT,
he phoned me up at 10 screaming.

INT. TOMS BEDROOM NIGHT

Fx= Phone rings
Fx= Picks up phone

TOM
HELLO?

ROBERT (talks frantically)

FX= running sound
FX= heavy breathing
FX= Wind blowing

TOM! Hello, help, I need your help

TOM
Wait what, calm down; I cant understand you, what happened.

ROBERT
Its JULIA, shes missing, I was texting her about the break up
and now nothing, she sent me some weird message about that she
cant live without me and then said goodbye, please, Ive been
running around for ages, I need help, please TOM I need you to
come and look with me.

TOM
Fuck! ROBERT, Im coming, where are you.
FX= running down stairs
ROBERT
I am outside by the river, please hurry.

TOM
Ok Im coming, where should I look?
FX= door slamming
ROBERT
I dont know, try the school. TOM, I dont know what to do.

TOM
Ok Ill try phoning her as well, who knows she might answer to
me.

ROBERT
Ok keep me posted, call me afterwards.

FX= Hangs up the phone

TOM
Come on JULIA, where are you, please answer.

FX= dial tone

JULIA
Hey Whats up

JULIA
Ha did I get you, sorry I cant answer right now, Ill call
you back later if I can be bothered.

Fx= disconnect sound

TOM
FX= dial tone

ROBERT, I cant find her, she wont answer her phone.

TOM has his head to the table with this hands over his head
TOM
She is my friend, I mean was my friend, I dont get it, I saw
her a couple days ago and she seemed down yes but not
suicidal.

POLICE OFFICER
Some people dont show signs, its not your fault just breath.
