pictures and title to predict what the reading will be about.

Cules son las celebraciones del ao en pases hispanos? What are the celebrations in
Hispanic countries?
Teacher explains that the handouts are copies of the same pages but students will be able to write
on them.
Students take their headphones from the Language Lab .
Students listen and read the reading strategy Para leer on p. 86.
Students highlight the cognates while they read and listen to the reading Las celebraciones del
ao.
Students share their findings.
Students listen/ read again and fill out their Window Notes on the reading. Students need to
list at least 5 facts and 3 items on each of the other windows. (Spanish should be used in at
least in the facts and feelings windows).
Teacher calls on students to share their answers while the rest of the class completes their
own charts with the information they agree with or adds to their own ideas.

questions in the Comprendiste? section on p. 87.
Teacher asks students to read the dates of the celebrations aloud and explain how dates are
expressed in Spanish.

Students practice pronouncing the names of the holidays listed on the section : Tambin se
dice on p. 87.

Homework/ tarea : Answer the Qu piensas? Section on page 87. Hay una celebracin
especial en tu casa para un da festivo? Cmo es?
