Purpose
To give children with special needs the opportunity
to express themselves through fine-arts
9th through 12th grade

The school day will be split into two sections AM/PM rotation

Freshman and sophomores are required to take intro classes in


these areas

Juniors and Seniors will be able to further explore the area they
choose
Music
Identify a variety of sounds and sound sources

Describe the processes involved in composing, conducting and


performing

Relate symbol systems to musical sounds

Read and interpret traditional music notation in a varied


repertoire
Drama
Understand the tools of body, mind, voice and simple
visual/aural media and the processes of planning, practicing and
collaborating used to create or perform drama/theatre

Describe the use of the primary tools and the support tools to
convey an idea through acting, playwriting and designing a
drama or theatre activity
Dance
Understand that the body is the primary tool of dance

Describe processes used to prepare the body as a tool of dance


and how visual aids, stories, poetry, props, music and
technology are used for performance.

Analyze the meaning behind dance. How resources,


technologies and processes are combined and evaluate
expressive content, stylistic differences and aspects of
production
Art
Identify media and tools

Describe the relationships among media

Describe how the choices of media effects the work

Analyzing and evaluating others work


Assessments Formatively
All students will take quizzes after each chapter has
been reviewed

Mini projects throughout the lessons

Midterms
Freshmen and Sophomore will be tested in understanding of the
fundamental elements of 2 of the classes they have taken
Juniors and Seniors will be tested on the creation of art through music,
media, drama, and dance
Finals
Freshmen and Sophomore will be tested in understanding of the
fundamental elements of the other 2 classes they have taken
Juniors and Seniors will have an end of the year play presenting the skills
they have acquired from attending this school
