General Product Information

ROCKWOOL stone wool products are made of basalt, a volcanic stone.

ROCKWOOL stone wool products are non-combustible with a
melting point of approximately 1000C. They are particularly
suitable for thermal insulation, fire protection and sound re-
duction/absorption.
ROCKWOOL stone wool is inorganic and contains no nutri-
tious substance. Therefore it will not be attacked by microor-
ganisms. Stone wool will not rot and does not attract vermin.
No CFCs, HFCs, HCFCs, or asbestos are used in the manu-
facture of ROCKWOOL stone wool products.

RockTech WM (Wired Mats)
Common applications
RockTech WM is particularly suited to meet the specification
requirements of thermal insulation, fire protection and
sound attenuation of large process pipework, tanks, vessels,
boilers and ducts. RockTech WM is suitable where high tem-
perature combined with vibrations or high fire resistance is
required. Irregular and circular shapes of equipment can be
easily insulated by RockTech WM due to its flexibility nature
of blanket type. Retention of the fibres by the 25mm (1) wire
mesh prevents any cracking or breaking. Wire mesh can be
made from either galvanized steel or stainless steel
materials.
Basic installation guideline
RockTech WM can be cut to required length and wrapped
tightly around the equipment. The edges of each mattress
should be butt jointed closely together with an angle of at
least 30 degrees to each other to eliminate gaps and stitched

using steel wire of diameter minimum 0.5mm. RockTech WM
can be secured to the equipment with steel bands or pins
with speed clips. All steel components or equipment exposed
to a corrosive environment should be cleaned, degreased
and coated with a protective finish before insulation is in-
stalled into it. The insulation should be finished with metal
cladding i.e. aluminum or other approved cladding material.
Both lengthwise and circular joints of the cladding are fas-
tened with sheet metal screws or rivets. All the connections
within the cladding shall be made watertight using suitable
sealant.
Packaging and storage
RockTech WM is shrink-wrapped in polyethylene sheets or
cling wrap for ease of handling, transportation, storage and
identification. Products should be stored indoors or under a
waterproof covering. Ensure the insulation is not in direct
contact with the floor; otherwise it may become wet as a re-
sult of ground moisture.

Common applications
RockTech SPI is supplied as a one piece section of convenient length. Slit
along the longitudinal axis for ease of application, the section readily
snap closed into position over the pipe. The sections are molded to en-
sure a firm fit around the piping and the outer surface is ground to en-
sure the correct insulation thickness is achieved.
RockTech SPI is particularly suitable for both hot piping to conserve
energy, maintain process temperatures, provide personnel protection,
preventing condensation and to reduce noise emission.

RockTech B (Blanket)
Common applications Packaging and storage

RockTech B is a lightweight insulation blanket manufactured in
a variety of thicknesses, suitable for thermal insulation, fire
protection and sound attenuation of both flat and curved sur-
faces of tanks, vessels, boilers and ducts. It is supplied in com-
pressed roll form for ease of installation over large areas.
RockTech B is shrink-wrapped in polyethylene sheets for ease
of handling, transportation, storage and identification. Prod-
ucts should be stored indoors or under a waterproof covering.
For the recommended guidelines on proper storage and han-
dling practices, please refer to your local representative.

ROCKWOOL stone wool does not attack or damage other materials with which it comes into contact,
neither does it further the corrosion of metal. No aggressive gasses are released when influenced by
fire. RockTech B meets the requirements for use over stainless steel in accordance with ASTM C 795.
RockTech B conforms to BS 3958 Part 5, Specification for bonded man-made mineral fibre slabs,

General Product Information
The ROCKWOOL QuikClad Tank Panel System is a factory
manufactured and engineered insulation panel system. It
consists of a layer of ROCKWOOL stone wool fixed to a pre-
formed metal sheet. Each panel interlocks with its neighbour
forming a structurally reinforced joint and a fully weatherproof
external cladding. The panels are available in roll-formed from
aluminium (plain or stucco), steel (including Colourbond) and
stainless steel. The insulation material can range from
ROCKWOOL RockTech S350 up to RockTech S650 depending on
both temperatures and application.

Common applications
The optimum thermal, mechanical and acoustic properties of the
ROCKWOOL QuikClad Tank Panel System makes it suitable for many
industrial and commercial applications. The ROCKWOOL QuikClad
Tank Panel direct fixing method makes it ideal for large industrial
structures such as tanks, stacks, cyclones and circular ducts. The
panels flexibility cuts installation time on most large curved
surfaces. Its unique design produces weatherproof cladding with a
fully concealed panel fixing plus the ability to absorb expansion and
contraction within the installed panel. When installed in conjunction
with one of ROCKWOOLs stone wool products, the panel provides
good compression resistance and excellent thermal performance.
