Instructions
The free version of AOM is for artists early in their careers or who have limited time for production
or promotion or who have extremely limited budgets. Subscribers to the professional version get
not only all the opps in here but an additional 230-260 or more each month or about 2,500 more
per year. And they get them a full month earlier, along with more contact information. Pro
subscribers also can have their work in the AOM Gallery, in AOM itself, even on the cover, and have
their site linked. They also receive a bonus list of about 300 open deadline opps when they
subscribe or renew. And they get complete immediate and free personal support for any question
or problem.
These opportunities have been selected from several hundred as most appropriate for fine
artists, traditional or contemporary. We favor things that are free or low cost to enter, offer
good rewards in relation to the fees, increase the exposure of those accepted, or are
prestigious or special in some other way.
We do not knowingly include outright scams, for-profit galleries that charge fees to
enter, individuals pretending to be galleries or contests that exist only to take money
away from artists.
If something is not marked International, or has some other geographic label, it is
for US residents only.
These are capsulized versions. When you see something that might be of interest, go
to the prospectus (click the link beginning with http://xrl.us/AOM or
http://tinyurl.com/AOM ), send an email (click the email address) or #10 SASE for
the prospectus or more info. In the list below, Open, as of . . . or Current, as of
means the opp was open as of that date but could close when full or withdrawn.
Searching: To find all entries containing a specific term such as grant, a zip code or
a medium (PA for painting, for instance), use Adobe Reader's extended search
(Shift+Control+F for PCs or Shift + Apple + F for Macs).
New users: please read instructions at
www.ArtOpportunitiesMonthly.com/PDF_instructions.html

Watercolor (WC) and WaterMedia: (WM)

WaterMedia: is pigment mixed with water instead of oil. It includes gouache, tempera, transparent watercolor and sometimes
acrylic paint, but check first. Colored inks are usually included but black ink (without color) is normally considered a drawing
medium, even when used as a wash. Watercolor societies often have strict rules about what (small to no) percentage of other
materials may be used along with the watercolor. Jurors with AWS (American Watercolor Society) or NWS (National
Watercolor Society) after their names are highly accomplished and tend to look for work that is technically competent but not
too unusual.
Also see All Media, above (entries marked All or 2D usually accept WC and WM) and Various Media, below.
