book and school supply drives.
Proposed and organized a new event that will provide a celebration for students during March is Reading Month.
Volunteered at University of Michigan School of Education Martin Luther King Jr. Day event in 2016 and 2017.
This event is a daily workshop that provides a variety of activities on peace, justice, and the work of MLK Jr. for
over 600 kids.

Angels of Action 2011 Present
Consistent volunteer for organization that serves children who are food insecure. They are sent home each weekend
with a backpack full of food to meet nutritional needs, therefore promoting physical and cognitive development.
Worked with fellow volunteers to run food drives and packaging of food bags, as well as organizing fundraisers to
gather food and monetary donations.

Alternative Spring Break November 2014 February 2015
Participated as a member of an Alternative Spring Break team where we would meet weekly to discuss social justice
and other relevant topics to prepare for our week of volunteering.

Epworth Children and Family Services, which is a program that has provided youth development services to help
children overcome severe emotional and behavioral challenges.

Gained research experience from my work as a research assistant on a project designed to learn more about how
students are motivated to engage in material when they see how their learning is relevant to their lives.
Assisted in collection and analysis of a large-scale educational intervention project by learning and applying a unique
coding rubric to data. I then further analyzed this data in weekly meetings to discuss findings and ideas.
