Q17: Please provide comments in regards to the student teacher's strengths and areas for improvement.
Ms. Jackson has had a unique experience being part of the staff of Christopher Farms Elementary the entire school
year. This has allowed her to get involved beyond the classroom. She has participated in professional development
and other opportunities outside the school day. Currently, she is sitting on our Multi-Tiered Systems of Support
committee where we are looking at the expectation structures of our building using a PBIS and Responsive Classroom
lens.
In the classroom, Ms. Jackson plans using the VBCPS curriculum. She identifies learning targets and matches the
target to the learning. A variety of instructional practices are used in a gradual release method where the teacher
models, students work in pairs, and students work on their own.
I would encourage Ms. Jackson to continue to push herself with differentiating and personalizing learning for students.
Additionally, I will encourage her to look for opportunities to take formative data from students to help guide instruction.
