ACS 6000 Medium Voltage Drive
ACS 1000
AMC-boards can be connected with computer (DriveWindow) in serial without any additional hardware
(fibre optics are of course needed). Also a star connection is possible by using branching unit (NDBU-
95). ACS 6000 with many AMC-boards has normally branching unit installed inside of the drive cabinet
as a default.
In the case of several AMC-boards are connected, different CH3 address must be definied for each
of them (CH3 NodeAddress) in parameter group 70.
In ACS 6000, its possible to define CH3 baudrate as well. With DriveWindow 1 Mbit/s must be used.

Local/remote
Reverse Coast stop
When using DriveWindow for controlling the motor, the drive must be set Remote in drive control
panel (CDP312)
Before able to use DriveWindow SW for motor control, the Local control must be activated in
DriveWindow SW
Speed step can be used for example when tuning the speed controller of the drive
Speed step value is defined in Drive Menu (2). If Automatic reset is used, also the Step duration
(ms) must be definied

Fault logger
Update Online/
offline
1
ATPS/ABB Switzerland Ltd Clear fault logger
DriveWindow 2.x 4
With the fault logger latest faults and warnings with time stamp can be found.
ACS 1000: 40 latest faults/warnings (if aux. power is turned off, only 16 latest ones are stored)
ACS 6000: 64 latest faults/warnings
To get the actual status of fault logger, fault logger must be updated or turned on line by using
upload or online buttons in DriveWindow SW or by using corresponding comands in Desktop menu
Fault logger is cleared by Clear button in motor control window (1) or by using main menus Drive
menu (2)
Fault logger cant be saved by DriveWindow, but the print screen function of the computer can be
used for that

ACS 1000 and ACS 6000 have two dataloggers (Datalogger 1 & Datalogger 2) to get some fast
sampled monitorings from the drive. Dataloggers have a big help for example in trouble shooting after
the faults.
Dataloggers are definied and data is stored in AMC3-board
Used AMC3 board and system software limits the amount of monitored signals, sampling time, the
amount of samples etc.
Dataloggers are running without DriveWindow SW. DriveWindow SW is needed for initialization,
reading and saving dataloggers only.
ACS 1000
Max. four monitored signals (channels).
Minimum sampling time (interval) is 1 ms
256 samples/channel
As a default dataloggers are not initialized!
When aux.power is turned off, dataloggers must be initialized again.
ACS 6000
Max.four (INU) or six (ARU) monitored signals (channels). Signals and other initialization data
are predefined by the AMC3 SW, the initialization data is not lost even aux. power is turned
off, unlike in ACS 1000
Minimum sampling time (interval) is 1 ms
INU: 256 samples/channel, ARU:1024 samples/channel

Saving dataloggers as
DriveWindow file
Saving dataloggers as
text file
Before saving the dataloggers they must be updated (before updating, graph window must be cleared
from old graphs)
Both dataloggers must be saved separately
Dataloggers can be saved as drive window file (*.dwt) or as text file.
Dataloggers must be saved before resetting the fault or starting the drive!

Start
Stop
Select the monitored signals, set the monitoring mode, interval, scaling etc. and start the monitoring.
There are to modes of monitoring: Normal mode and Fast Mode
In normal mode you are able, in principle, to monitor any kind of items. The minimum interval in this
mode is 10 ms. Normal mode is the mode you will almost always use.
In fast mode you can monitor only drive parameters and signals of type real or integer. The minimum
interval in this mode is 1 ms. You should avoid using this mode, because it may hang-up you PC and/or
cause panel losses in drives.
The monitor collects data into a history buffer. History buffer makes it possible to have more data
collected than fits on the screen. The data in the history buffer can be scrolled in the monitor display
pane when the monitor is paused or stopped.
There are restrictions about the history buffer:
The value in milliseconds must be at least as big as the interval.
The value must not exceed 2147483647 ms (almost 25 days).
The value cannot be less than the current x-axis length.
The value must be multiple of the interval. For example, if interval is 3 ms, history buffer size 10
s is invalid.
Scaling of axis like in Dataloggers
Saving of monitoring window like in Dataloggers

Parameters
Saving parameters as DriveWindow file
Saving parameters as text file
Compare/download
parameters
Saving parameters
Parameters can be saved as DriveWindow file (*.dwp) or as text file.
When saving, downloading or camparing parameters, control must be set in remote in
DriveWindow SW
When saving parameters as DriveWindow file, parameters can be modified off line (without drive)
and later restored to the drive
Only opened parameters are saved. To save hidden parameters, the hidden parameter groups must
be first opened by relevant passcode
If all hidden parameters must be saved also, two files are needed to save: one with service passcode
and one with development passcode
After the commissioning customer should get application parameters saved as file(s). All parameters
must be saved and send to relevant persons for ABB internal purposes by commissioning engineer.
Downloading parameters
Only DriveWindow parameter files (*.dwp) can be downloaded to drive
Only parameters up to group 98 are downlaoded
Before downloading only aux. power connected to drive (motor stopped, MCB OFF)
If using parameters downloading after upgrading systemsoftware, compare parameters after
downloading with the parameter file saved from old systemsoftware. Sometimes some parameters
are not downloaded after system software is upgraded, since the version of system SW is different.
Comparing parameters
Camparing function compares AMC3 board parameters with selected parameter file

System SW backup/restore
Backup
The whole software of AMC3 board (System software) can be saved. System software backup
includes parameter settings as well.
If several AMC3 boards are connected to DriveWindow same time, Backup All backups all connected
AMC3 boards.
After Backup command remember Save backup file also!
After the commissioning customer should get system SW backup file. Back up file must be send to
relevant ABB persons as well by commissioning engineer
Restore
Make sure that the correct backup file is restored to drive! Specially, in the cases you have many
drives with different parameter settings and powers and you have many backup files available, you have
to be carefully, when using restore function
When restoring keep aux.power connected only (drive stopped, MCB OFF)
