Pros and Cons of Instructional Planning


Instructional planning is the process by which teachers decide what to teach, how to teach
it and how they will determine whether the students learned were satisfied.
Deciding What to Teach
The first decision a teacher should make first in planning is, determining what to teach.
* State standards and how they are developed
- Factors Influencing state requirements.
- Societal expectations.
- The nature of learners and needs of learners.
- Professional societies with interests in education.
What State Standards Look Like
* Writing
* Mathematics
Proficiency Tests are tests that measure the extent to which students at various grade levels have
attained the standards.
Instructional objectives describes what learners must know and able to do.
Three Different ways of Learning
Cognitive Domain
- This causes learners to engage in mental or intellectual tasks. They are expected to
recall, analyze and identify.
Affective Domain
- This deals with attitudinal, emotional, and valuing goals for learners.
Psychomotor Domain
- This domain relates to learning physical skills. Students in this course are taught to
accomplish more complex physical tasks.
