The overall process of our presentation was first divided into four equal sections where
each of the us were responsible for looking up and researching in their respective areas.
Afterwards, we regrouped and shared what they should with each other, in the process also
having a rough skeleton for our overall PowerPoint structure. After, we each decided to provide
the research with facts, with each of us using at least 3 sources so that it can increase our
credibility as well as meet the requirements of using a variety of resources in our presentation.
Overall, the process was successful, with us being able to put together a good presentation
Revising the presentation was difficult, the presentation is set during a time when many
of the members have midterm exams which made it extremely difficult to set a good time to
meet. So we decided to revise via Skype through a group call during hours we were all available.
These calls were effective and allowed us to get the job done, but in my opinion it could not
emulate the effect of working together in a room. We caught some structural issues in this
process and took time to reorganize the PowerPoint so that it could better work for the
audience.
Overall, I felt like we learned pretty basic skills of researching were used during this
project. We met most, if not all, of the learning goals. We taught the audience the writing goals
and conventions regarding profiles, we also provided different examples which teaches the
audience how to be flexible when writing a profile. We were able to able to use a variety of
sources to back up our research, which increases the credibility of our presentation as well as
quality. We used different forms of evidence like articles, videos, and magazines. Overall we
were able to meet all purposes as we based our research and presentation on it. We defined
the genre in our own words, the purpose of what the genre might fulfill, why people would
choose to write in our genre, how this genre makes it argument or purpose clear, what
rhetorical appeals it uses, the structure, what the audience is looking for, how do the authors
meet the desires, what elements might it use, what is the usual tone, how it sites its sources,
and what other subgenres the genre may have. We also included two activities so that the
audience can interact with each other while having a pleasant experience learning about this
Overall I felt this unit did a good job in incorporating teamwork, research, critical
reading, and using variety of sources, into one big project. The only thing that I could want to
be different next time would probably be the time of the semester when this presentation is
being held as I feel like it would be more effective if it didnt clash with midterms or finals,
because this way members would probably be able to work with each other better.
