Question for Discussion

Barbara Sparks brought an important point in the article that lack of accommodation of

needs of adult learner from non-dominant group in formal adult education. As a learner have you

experienced sense of exclusion, invisibility or inferior status in formal, or non-formal adult

education setting? And as Sparks, 1998 talked about restructuring of adult education for more

inclusive to non-dominant groups, as an adult educator how do you ensure inclusive learning

environment for non-dominant groups? Provide an example that you think will help in

accommodating adult learners needs.
