6.1. Problems Statement

During my internship I worked with the general banking services, Investment section and
specially practiced Corporate Social Responsibility of IBBL. Corporate Social Responsibility is
very important for any bank to make its good image. Although the performance of corporate
social responsibility is good, however still the employees and customers of IBBL arent more
awareness and IBBL doesnt give more concentrate and practices under Bangladesh Bank about
CSR of IBBL, Hajicamp branch. So, I want to find out the actual problems and want to give
some suggestions. And for this reason I am doing this research.
6.2. Background of the Problem
I observed that their activities are not fully effective. So the research topic is Effectiveness of
the Corporate Social Responsibilities in Islamic Bank of Bangladesh Limited.

6.3. Project Time Line

To prepare this project report I had to spend total 24 days. The project activities have shown in
the following Gantt chart,
First 8 days: Developed the research plan
Second 8 days: Developed the hypothesis
Third 8 days: Conduct survey research
Fourth 8 days: Data analysis and interpretation

6.4. Research Methodology

In this report I have used Simple random sampling procedure to collect data from my population.
This study has been conducted among 50 customers and employees of IBBL, Hajicamp branch. I
have used different statistical tools and tried to get the accurate result. As my sample size is 50. I
did Z test of the collected data for my research. From the facts I found from the research part, I
tried to provide some recommendations which will be helpful for the branch.

6.4.1. Research Approach

6.4.5. Population and Sampling Plan

Sample Unit
The population of this study was defined as the existing clients and employees of IBBL,
Hajicamp branch and also community of the country.

Sample Frame
The sample frame of this study has been consisted of the IBBL employees, Clients of IBBL.

Sampling Size
The sample size of this study has been consisted of the customers and employees of IBBL
operating at Hajicamp branch. A total of 50 peoples have been selected randomly.

Sampling Procedure

Probability Sampling (Simple Random Sampling)

To accurately determine the probability, probability sampling is selected and it is simple random
sampling, because each member of a population has an equal chance of being included the
sample. I have used Likert scale to get the response from the customer. I would like to know
whether respondents are (1) Strongly Disagree (2), Disagree (3), Neither Agree or Disagree (4),
Agree (5), and Strongly Agree.

6.4.6. Research Limitation

There are many limitations faced while making the research report based on the facts and
complete information available, there had some limitations those were unavoidable. They are
following:

The main constraint of the study is insufficiency of information, which was required for
the study. There are various information the bank employee can't provide due to
security and other corporate obligations.

79
R ESEARCH PART
Of IBBL
CSR

Since the bank personels were very busy, they could provide very little time for intern.
Relevant papers and documents were not available sufficiently.
Time constraints are another important limitation of the report.

6.5. Data Analysis and Interpretation

Result Findings: MS Excel

For analysis of data Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, different tables and graphs
were used to make the data meaningful.

Hypotheses Test: Z test

Hypotheses were testing to derive a meaningful conclusion from the empirical data. In addition,
basic statistical techniques of different measures of central tendency have been used for
analyzing the data. As my sample size is more than 30, I have used z-test for the study. The
following formula has been followed:

Object 14

Z= = Sample mean
= mean value
= Estimated sample standard deviation
n = Sample size
Based on my analyzed, I made findings, recommendation and conclusion.
6.6. Hypothesis Scale
In order to analysis the data 5 point Likert scale has been used. 1 stands for highly disagreed
responses, 2 stands for only disagreed responses, 3 stands for the neural responses, 4 stands for
agreed responses, and 1 stands for highly agreed responses. The scale has been shown below:

6.9. Research Findings

1 It can be seen from the H1, 18% respondents are strongly agreed and 34% respondents are
agreeing with this question which is indicating that Corporate Social Responsibility
influences the behavior of the employees and the customers positively.

It can be seen from H2, 18% clients are strongly disagreed and 30% clients are disagreed.
2
So in here its a little bit confusing regarding the responses of respondents. But Z test says
that IBBL do not practice enough Corporate Social Responsibility under regulation of
Bangladesh Bank.

It can be seen from H3, 28% respondents are strongly agreed and 34% respondents are
3
agreeing with this question which is indicating that Corporate Social Responsibility of
IBBL maintains Responsible Customer Service and Customer satisfaction.

It can be seen from H2, 20% respondents are strongly agreed and 34% respondents are
4

It can be seen from H5, 28% clients are strongly agreed, 36% clients are agreed Which is

indicating that Corporate Social Responsibility creates Trust and responsibility about IBBL

It can be seen from H6, 20% clients are strongly disagreed and 32% clients are disagreeing
in this question. So it is clear by Z testing, Corporate Social Responsibility does not provide
6
Health and safety at work in IBBL.

6.10. Recommendation
The banks are actually service providing organization. IBBL is trying to operate its CSR as
much as possible according to the islami shariah. Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd. (IBBL) is
performing well to their Corporate Social Responsibility but it has some crucial areas to
improve. I have several frank discussions with the clients and officials, which has helped me to
know about the foresaid findings and draw the following recommendation:

Corporate Social Responsibility influences the behavior of the employees and the customers
positively. So that they can fulfill the responsibility all around them like employees, clients and
the community. If they are more awareness about the CSR, they will be more popularized in the
banking industry.

CSR are the drawn under the Bangladesh Bank. Every year Bangladesh Bank
monitoring that which bank fulfill how much corporate social responsibility. Employees
and clients point of views and the observation of the community I found that IBBL does
not enough practice of CSR under regulation of Bangladesh Bank. So if IBBL make
competitive advantages in banking sector, it should follow the rules and regulation
regarding CSR which is circulated by Bangladesh Bank.
Corporate Social Responsibility of IBBL maintains Responsible Customer Service and
Customer satisfaction. Thats why all the customer does not move from the IBBL keep
and they are appreciating to IBBL.

91
R ESEARCH PART
Of IBBL
CSR

Corporate Social Responsibility of IBBL is a tool for gaining competitive advantages. To make
corporate image more strongly in banking industry IBBL should need CSR practice in the
competitive market. It is suggest that make a brand image IBBL need to increase their corporate
social responsibility in every sector.

Corporate Social Responsibility creates Trust and responsibility about IBBL in

customer mind. That is why IBBL is in the first position in the banking industry of our
country. IBBL should give more concentrate to keep this position and build more CSR
for the customer and employee.

IBBL should provide more Health and safety at work in IBBL. They should leave from
traditional banking.

6.11. Conclusion
Internship experience plays a vital role for every student to implement his or her theoretical

knowledge to get a practical knowledge from any organization. In order to complete BBA

degree, internship report is one of crucial parts in the final semester for the student of IUBAT-

International University of Business Agriculture And Technology.

Bangladesh is a developing country. Without developing banking industry in this countrys

business sector is not possible to progress rapidly. In such conditions IBBL is trying to develop

based on profit / loss sharing. The strength of islami bank Bangladesh limited is employees
honesty .Employees of Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd. are honest because they strongly believe in
Islamic rules and regulations. They do not take any types of bribe from the clients. So believes of
people are increasing on the activities of Islami Bank Bangladesh limited.

Corporate social responsibility also known as corporate conscience, corporate citizenship, social
performance, or sustainable responsible business/ Responsible Business refers to the continuing
commitment by business to behave fairly and responsibly and contribute to economic
development while improving the quality of life of the work force and their families as well as
the local community and society at large. I have done my research about corporate social

commitment in everywhere at large. That is why IBBL placed in first position in the commercial
