EXT. ALLEY WAY - NIGHT

It RAINS. A door bursts open. A burly Ukrainian SCIENTIST,


50, trench coat and glasses, runs out. He clutches a METAL
BRIEFCASE. Surveys the area.

SUPER: ODESSA, UKRAINE

DOGS BARK -- he heads to the street -- sloshes through


puddles.

EXT. UKRAINE - ROOF TOP - SAME

A Ukrainian OPERATIVE looks over the ledge, at the Scientist.

EXT. UKRAINE - STREET - SAME

Desolate. Rubble. SHOTS RING. MILITARY TRUCKS ROARS by.

Scientist takes out a cellphone -- wipes condensation from


his glasses -- dials a number -- drops the phone.

ANGLE ON CELLPHONE

It swims downstream in the gutter.

Scientist chases after it.

ON STORM DRAIN

Cellphone heads towards the opening, a dark abyss.

Scientist grabs it just in time -- GUN CLICKS.

Russian Operative aims a gun with silencer.

OPERATIVE
(in Ukrainian)
Open the case.

Scientist shakes his head no.

Operative shoots him in the knee -- Scientist SCREAMS --


drops with the briefcase.

Operative lifts the Scientists hand, takes his thumb and


presses it to a DIGITAL SCANNER under the briefcase handle.

SCIENTIST
(in Ukrainian)
Youre making a terrible mistake.

Operative opens the briefcase.

ON BRIEFCASE

A glass CYLINDER with metal top and bottom. Inside a BLUE


LUMINOUS LIQUID GLOWS. A single AIR BUBBLE suspended in the
center. A Piezo MICROPHONE. A CONTROL BOX (amplifier).

OPERATIVE
(in Ukrainian)
Where is the formula and frequency?

SCIENTIST
(spits)
Traitor.

OPERATIVE
(aims gun)
Ill ask you one more time.

Scientist points defiantly to his head.

SCIENTIST
If you kill me, you kill us all.

Operative shoots him in the head -- Scientist collapses --


blood and rainwater flows into the storm drain.

Operative pulls out a SCALPEL. Cuts off Scientists thumb.

He pulls a sealed ICE PACK, places severed thumb inside.

INT. UKRAINE - LABORATORY - SAME

Aquariums, cylinder canisters, beakers, SOUND EQUIPMENT.

AGENT ROSS, 30s, sits in a chair across a desk.

HADDAWAY (O.S.)
We need you to bring in Agent
Carter.

Reveal HADDAWAY, 50s, hard edged soldier type. He hands Ross


a MICROCHIP.

HADDAWAY (CONTD)
Extraction Mission. Russian base in
Albania.

ROSS
Alpha Squad can handle it.

HADDAWAY
I want Carter on this.

ROSS
Sir, what if hes not ready? He
could compromise the whole mission.

MAN
Carter will performed as hes been
trained. Besides, look at you.
Sharp and strong as ever.

ROSS
Some of us heal faster.

MAN
Bring him in Agent Ross. Thats an
order.

ROSS
Yes sir.

INT. VERONA, ITALY - LOFT - BEDROOM - DUSK

AGENT CARTER, 30s, awakens from a nightmare. He sits up and


turns to his bedside table.

ANGLE ON PICTURE FRAME

Carter smiles next to a beautiful ARAB WOMAN.

INT. STUDY - VILLA - DAY

An artists den, bookshelves lined with the classics, a


romantics man cave.

Carter drops the needle on a RECORD PLAYER -- OPERA plays

BEGIN OPENING CREDITS.

HALLWAY - SAME

Carter performs pull-ups with no shirt on. On his back and


chest are SCARS and BULLET MARKS, old wounds.

EXT. PATIO - SAME

Carter paints FIRE SCENES and depictions of the ARAB WOMAN in


black CHARCOAL.

KITCHEN - SAME

Carter turns on the GAS STOVE -- pours a glass of wine --


drinks -- dumps pasta into a pot of boiling water.

LIVING ROOM - SAME

Carter cross with a plate of spaghetti and meatballs. He


turns on the TV and MUTES the volume.

He walks into the adjacent DINING ROOM.

DINING ROOM - CONTINUOUS

On the walls, CHARCOAL PAINTINGS of Fire and Arab Woman.

Carter places his plate onto a wooden table. He opens french


windows to look out at the beautiful Italian SUNSET.

He sits to eat. Stares at the TV in the living room.

Muted Italian News: Terrorist Attacks, Energy Crisis,


War In The Middle East, and all the imagery that coincides.

Carter looks back to his food. From outside a WOMAN YELLS.

Carter rises and crosses to the French windows.

HIS POV - BELOW ON THE STREET

A UKRAINIAN GIRL, 18, tries to shove past Two ITALIAN THUGS,


20s, # 1 and # 2.

Carter shuts the windows and sits back down. He eats with a
stone cold stare, chews mechanically.

EXT. STREET - NIGHT

Italian Thug # 1 yanks off Ukrainian Girls book bag.

UKRAINIAN GIRL
Give it back!

ITALIAN THUG 1
(dumps books from bag)
What are you studying for anyway?
Youre just gonna end up on the
streets.

ITALIAN THUG 2
Yeah, like your Russian whore of a
mother!

UKRAINIAN GIRL
(slaps him)

# 2 grabs her by the hair and raises his fist.

(in Italian)
Hey!

The Men turn.

CARTER (CONTD)
Let her go.

ITALIAN THUG 1

CARTER
(points to Villa)
I live up there. This is my
business.

ITALIAN THUG 2
Then well take her somewhere else
and fuck her!

The girl squirms as the thugs grope her.

CARTER
Last chance.

ITALIAN THUG 1
(lets her hair go)
You want to be a hero, huh?

He pulls out a TASER -- BZZZ. # 2 pulls out another -- BZZZ.

CARTER
This is going to hurt.

ITALIAN THUG 1
We know.

CARTER
For you...

# 1 swings the taser -- Carter blocks his arm, catches his


wrist and holds him an arm bar -- Carter takes the taser out
his hand -- electrocutes his armpit.

ITALIAN THUG 1
Ah!

# 2 swings at Carter -- he misses and strikes # 1 in the face


with the taser -- Carter shocks # 2 in the ribs BZZZ ---- he
sweeps their legs -- they both drop.

The Thugs writhe in pain. Ukrainian Girl stares in shock.

CARTER
(hands her tasers)
Anyone bothers you again, use
these.

He walks away.

UKRAINE

INT. VILLA - DINING ROOM - MOMENTS LATER

Carter enters with a glass of wine.

ROSS (O.S.)
You were too easy on them.

Carter turns to the French windows -- Agent Ross looks out


the city lights.

CARTER
Guess Im feeling generous.

Ross faces Carter.

INT. VILLA - DINING ROOM TABLE - LATER

Carter sits across from Ross. He pours two glasses of wine.

Ross digs into a plate of spaghetti and meatballs.

ROSS
You always were a good cook?

Carter drinks wine.

ROSS (CONTD)
(puts down fork)
Look I know its been tough. I
would have called but I figured you
needed time alone.
(hands him the microchip.)
Haddaway sent me. He wants you for
an extraction.

CARTER
(pours wine)
Not a day goes by that I dont
replay her death over and over.

Ross studies him.

CARTER (CONTD)
Its like my mind is a TV, stuck on
the same channel. Until the channel
changes, Im no good to anyone.

ROSS
You know you cant just quit.

CARTER
Yeah. I know.

They lock eyes. Carter raises his glass and they cheers.

Carter rises, places his hand on Ross shoulder.

CARTER (CONTD)
Its good to see you.

He walks off.

ROSS
Yeah, you too.

Ross stares out at the city lights -- SIRENS blare.

BEDROOM - SAME

Carter finishes his wine, stares at the picture of him and


the Arab Woman.

EXT. HIGH RISE ROOFTOP - DAY (FLASHBACK)

The Arab Woman, AGENT SAMIR, is held hostage by an ARAB


TERRORIST. He clutches her tight, a knife to her throat. In
the other hand he grips a BOMBs TRIGGER.

ARAB TERRORIST
(in Arabic)
Put down the gun or Ill kill her!

Carter, sweaty, bloody, aims a RIFLE at the Terrorist.

CARTER
(in Arabic)
Let her go!

AGENT SAMIR
(to Carter)
Save them!

INT. SCHOOL BUS - DAY

A class room of SCHOOL CHILDREN, dressed in Catholic School


Uniforms, sing a SONG.

INT. HIGH RISE - STAIRWELL - MOMENTS LATER

Ross races up the stairs with a handgun.

EXT. HIGH RISE ROOFTOP - MOMENTS LATER

The Arab Terrorists thumb itches on the trigger.

ARAB TERRORIST
Put it down now!

CARTER
Dont hurt her!

Carter lowers the rifle.

AGENT SAMIR
Save them Carter!

EXT. SCHOOL BUS - UNDER CARRIAGE

A BRICK of C4 EXPLOSIVE stuck to the gas tank.

EXT. HIGH RISE ROOFTOP - ENTRANCE - SAME

Ross bursts through the door. Runs towards the other side.

EXT. HIGH RISE ROOFTOP - MOMENTS LATER

Carter, hands in the air, pleads with the Terrorist.

CARTER
Well walk away.

Terrorist sweats, the bright sun beams on his face.

Agent Samir looks into Carters soul.

AGENT SAMIR
I love you Carter.

ANGLE ON HER SHOE

A BLADE pops out the front -- she stabs Terrorists foot.

Terrorist SCREAMS -- she knocks the trigger out of his hand.

BEGIN SLOW MOTION

Trigger rolls towards the ledge of the roof.

CARTERS POV

His head swivels -- GUN on the ground -- TRIGGER rolling --


ROSS running with gun raised.

END POV

Carter scrambles for the trigger.

Terrorist slits Agent Samirs throat.

ON ROSS

He aims his gun at the Terrorist.

ROSS
No!

Ross BLASTS the Terrorist in the forehead.

From behind Ross, TERRORIST # 2 shoots him in the back.

Ross sinks to his knees, eyes locked on Agent Samir.

ON CARTER

The trigger careens off the ledge -- he extends his arm out --
nearly slides off the roof -- closes his hand -- doesnt
catch the trigger -- it falls...

ON AGENT SAMIR

She stares up at the bright sun with tears in her eyes, blood
in her mouth, a serrated throat.

END FLASHBACK

INT. VILLA - LIVING ROOM - DAY

Ross awakens on the couch wrapped in a blanket. The sunlit


room pierces his eyes. He takes in the Charcoal paintings on
the walls.

Off Screen, Carter COOKS in the kitchen.

KITCHEN - SAME

Carter pours two espressos.

ROSS
Good morning.

CARTER
(hands him an espresso)
How did you sleep?

Ross nods OK.

ROSS
Thanks.

Carter pulls fresh Cornettos out of the oven.

ROSS (CONTD)
Listen, Ill tell Haddaway you got
injured snowboarding or something.
Ive got a Radiologist friend who
can provide X-rays-

CARTER
I spoke to him already. We leave in
an hour.

Carter sets the pastries on the table. Drops the Microchip


next to it.

ROSS
Great.

Ross sips the espresso, takes a bite of the pastry.

CARTER
Im done after this mission.

ROSS
Haddaway agreed to that?

CARTER
Yeah.

Carter walks off.

ROSS
OK. Lets make it a good one then.

CUT TO:

EXT. RUSSIAN MILITARY BASE - NIGHT

A fortress. Concrete and barbed wire. A LAKE.

TRUCKS patrol the perimeter. GUNSHOTS burst in the distance.


ORDERS in Russian echo faintly.

SUPER: SOKOV RUSSIAN MILITARY BASE, ALBANIA

EXT. WALLS - SAME

A GRAPPLING HOOK flies over the wall. Carter climbs over,


wears black camouflage. He looks through binoculars.

CARTERS POV - BINOCULARS

TWO RUSSIAN SOLDIERS dressed in military snow gear, walk


underneath a TALL METALLIC TURRET.

Two CONSTRUCTION WORKERS build the anchor point for a


ZIPLINE. Across the Lake another TOWER connects the CABLE.

END POV

Carter speaks into a headset.

CARTER
Im in.

EXT. GROUND LEVEL TUNNEL - RUSSIAN BASE - SAME

Ross walks through a dark and damp tunnel.

ROSS
What took you so long?

EXT. WALLS - RUSSIAN BASE - NIGHT

Carter slides down a rope and lands on the ground, now


dressed as a Russian Colonel in full regalia. He pulls a
leather briefcase from his pack.

CARTER
(to Ross)
You try scaling a wall with all
this clothes on.

EXT. GROUND LEVEL - SAME

Ross kneels by a STONE SHED, types on a laptop.

ON LAPTOP SCREEN

A virtual map of the base -- a ROOM highlighted in RED.

ROSS
You getting this?

EXT. WALLS - SAME

Carter looks to a TRACKING DEVICE linked to Ross feed.

CARTER
Yeah.

ROSS (O.S.)
Youve got 5 minutes before the
guards change shift.

Carter sets his watch timer for five minutes.

INT. LABORATORY - RUSSIAN MILITARY BASE - NIGHT

A RUSSIAN SCIENTIST, 40s, wears a set of high-tech


HEADPHONES. He adjusts knobs on the Control Box stolen from
Dr. Smodorov.

ANGLE ON CONTROL BOX

SOUND WAVES SPIKE. DISTORTION. HIGH FREQUENCY SOUNDS.

The glass CANISTER with LUMINOUS LIQUID and AIR BUBBLE rests
inside a GLASS BOX. A thermometer shaped MICROPHONE extends
into the canisters top.

ANGLE ON SECURITY DOOR

It unlocks. RUSSIAN GUARD # 1 enters -- door locks.

RUSSIAN SOLDIER 1
Commander wants to know how much
longer.

Scientist takes off the headphones.

SCIENTIST
(in Russian)
What?

Guard points to his watch.

SCIENTIST (CONTD)
Why dont you get me some coffee? I
concentrate better with drugs.

INT. HALLWAY NIGHT - CONTINUOUS

Guard # 1 exits and the security door LOCKS. GUARD # 2 sits


at a desk, watches TV.

RUSSIAN SOLDIER 1
(to # 2)
Ill be back.

RUSSIAN SOLDIER 2
Like Arnold Schwarzenegger...
(in English)
Ill be back.

He LAUGHS.

INT. BUILDING B - HALLWAY - SAME

A RUSSIAN SOLDIER hears a GRINDING sound. He raises his rifle


and moves towards an open WINDOW. Goes to close it.

Carter flies in with a double drop kick -- SNAPS the Guardss


neck -- lays him down quietly.

He walks down a flight of stairs with the briefcase.

INT. CAFETERIA/KITCHEN - SAME

Russian Soldier # 1 pours a cup of coffee from a thermos. He


spits in the cup, covers with a lid, cracks a wicked smile.

INT. HALLWAY - SAME

Carter walks, face down, towards the SECURITY DOOR.

ANGLE ON MOUNTED SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS

Guard # 1 watches cartoons on TV, LAUGHS. He spots the


Colonel approaching, shuts it off and stands in attention.

RUSSIAN GUARD
(in Russian)
Good evening sir!

CARTER
(in Russian)
Commander has been calling you for
10 minutes!

RUSSIAN GUARD
(looks to his walkie-
talkie)
I didnt hear anything sir.

CARTER
Wheres the other guard?

RUSSIAN GUARD
Hes in the can sir.

CARTER
Go!.

The Guard bolts down the hallway.

Carter sprays a MIST on the Security Doors control panel.


The numbers 2,4,8,4 reveal dark FINGER PRINTS.

Carter punches in the numbers and the door opens.

INT. LABORATORY - NIGHT

A high pitch HUMMING emanates from the control box. Scientist


types on a computer.

SCIENTIST
That was quick. It better be fresh.

He spins in a swivel chair - PUNCH -- Carter lays him out.

Carter opens his briefcase, carefully removes the canister


and places it in the briefcase.

SCIENTIST (CONTD)
Theyll kill you for that!

INT. OUTSIDE LABORATORY - MOMENTS LATER

Carter exits and the Security Door closes. He shoots the


ACCESS PANEL with gun and silencer -- sparks fly -- BZZZ.

EXT. GROUND LEVEL - NIGHT

Carter turns a corner.

CARTER
(to Ross)
Got the package. Lets go home.

EXT. GROUND LEVEL TUNNEL - SAME

Ross walks away from the base with his gear.

ROSS
Way ahead of you.

EXT. GROUND LEVEL - LADDER - SAME

Carter climbs up a LADDER. Drops his gun with silencer. Looks


down. Continues climbing without it.

EXT. UPPER LEVEL - MOMENTS LATER

Carter marches as the Colonel, towards the bases exit.

OLIVETTI (O.S.)
Aiutatemi!

Carter stops.

CARTER
(to Ross)
Did you hear that?

ROSS (O.S.)
Negative.

OLIVETTI (O.S.)
(in Italian)
Help me, please!

Carter looks down to the center of the base.

CARTERS POV

Inside a METAL CAGE, a beaten man in tattered Military


Fatigues, hands stretched and tied over his head. This is
ANDREA OLIVETTI.

EXT. METAL POLE - MOMENTS LATER

Carter walks up to Olivetti, faces his back.

ON OLIVETTIS BACK

Shirt torn. WHIP MARKS.

OLIVETTI
(faint, in English)
Please, help me.

CARTER
(in Italian)
You speak Italian?

OLIVETTI
(in Italian)
I speak a few languages.

EXT. UPPER LEVEL - SAME

Ross watches Carter through binoculars.

ROSS POV - BINOCULARS

Carter speaks with Olivetti. Binoculars PAN to a Russian


Soldier with an AK-47 on the OBSERVATION TOWER.

ROSS
Carter I dont know what the hell
youre doing, but you better move!

EXT. METAL POLE - MOMENTS LATER

Carter moves closer to the cage.

OLIVETTI
Im a political prisoner. I dont
belong here.

CARTER
Im sorry. I cant.

He walks off.

OLIVETTI
Then why did you stop?

Carter freezes.

OLIVETTI (CONTD)
You seem like a good man. Please,
do the right thing.

Carter takes a beat. Pulls out another gun with no silencer.


Aims at Olivetti.

OLIVETTI (CONTD)
Ive suffered enough. Do it.

Olivetti stares into Carter. He closes his eyes.

Carters finger itches on the trigger. He shoots the LOCK off


the cage -- the SHOT rings throughout the base.

INT. HALLWAY - SAME

Russian Soldier # 1 arrives to the Security Door with the


Scientists cup of coffee.

He spots the smashed panel -- looks into the small window.

HIS POV - THE SCIENTIST

Hes bound and gagged on the floor.

END POV

# 1 drops the coffee and races down the hallway.

RUSSIAN SOLDIER # 2
(walkie-talkie)
Sound the alarm!

EXT. GROUND LEVEL - NIGHT

Olivetti leans against Carter as they move through the base.


GUNSHOTS -- RUSSIAN VOICES -- ALARM WAILS.

CARTER
(to Ross)
I need an exit!

ROSS (O.S.)
Building B.

Two Russian Soldiers storm out onto the UPPER LEVEL -- CARTER
SHOOTS them -- they fall off a LEDGE and through a ROOF.

EXT. UPPER TOWER - NIGHT

Ross pulls a GRAPPLING HOOK from his bag -- aims at the tower
above -- pulls the trigger and the hook launches.

EXT. UPPER LEVEL - NIGHT

Carter pulls the pin off a GRENADE, drops to the SHED below.

OLIVETTI
This way!

They run along the ELEVATED RAMP -- two SOLDIERS appear --


Carter shoots them without stopping.

The shed EXPLODES behind them -- soldiers run out SCREAMING


and ON FIRE.

EXT. UPPER TOWER - SAME

Ross attaches the Grappling Gun to his belt -- A HUGE SOLDIER


jumps down from the tower behind him.

Soldier punches Ross and sends him over the railing -- Ross
dangles by the grappling hook cable.

EXT. UPPER FLOOR - SAME

Carter and Olivetti dodge BULLETS.

JET ENGINES ROAR as two Military Planes fly over the base.

EXT. UPPER TOWER - SAME

The Huge Soldier extends his thick arm, strangles Ross --


Ross kicks him in the balls -- reaches for the railing.

EXT. ZIPLINE TOWER - SAME

Carter and Olivetti run towards the ZIPLINE. Carter attaches


HANDLES to the Zipline CABLE. He hooks Olivetti to his own
harness.

Carter looks over the lake. Turns to the Base.

CARTERS POV

A Soldier, on the rear of a TRUCK, aims a BAZOOKA at Carter.

CARTER
Hang on!

The Soldier FIRES the Bazooka.

Carter pushes off -- Olivetti clutches for dear life -- they


ride the zipline towards the other side of the lake.

The Tower behind them EXPLODES -- zipline cable snaps.

EXT. LAKE SHORE - CONTINUOUS

Cable loosens slack -- Carter and Olivetti come crashing down


onto the shore of the lake.

EXT. UPPER TOWER - CONTINUOUS

Ross pulls the Soldier over the edge of the railing --


Soldier dangles from Rosss leg -- Ross kicks him in the face
- Soldier SPLASHES into the water.

A Bazooka Missile strikes the Tower above Ross -- he looks up


at the crashing metal structure...

ROSS
Oh shit!

He detaches the grappling cable -- crashes into the water.

EXT. LAKE - MOMENTS LATER

Ross emerges from the water. He GASPS for air. Debris flies.

EXT. LAKE SHORE- CONTINUOUS

Carter and Olivetti look across the lake -- the Bases towers
collapse -- a Truck EXPLODES -- SHOTS RING.

Ross swims onto the shore, wet, cold, and pissed off.

ROSS
So much for a quiet exit. Whos
your friend?

INT. U-BOAT SUBMARINE

Ross stares at his laptop.

ANGLE ON LAPTOP SCREEN

Pictures. FBI FILE on Olivetti.

ROSS
Andrea Olivetti. Italian and
Ukrainian citizenship. Professor at
Kyiv National Linguistic
University.

Across from him sits Olivetti. Carter hangs back.

OLIVETTI
My father was Ukrainian.
(to Carter)
My mother, from Napoli.

ROSS
(to Olivetti)
Howd you end up at Sokov?

OLIVETTI
Im a poet Agent Ross. I write what
I see. Russians have always hated
writers. Even now.

ROSS
Doesnt explain how you ended up on
a military base in Albania.

OLIVETTI
I was part of a peaceful protest
near the base. Innocent women were
being raped by the soldiers. My
students and I were captured. They
were gunned down. I was kept alive
for entertainment, so they could
torture me.

ROSS
(to Carter)
I need a word.

Carter follows Ross through a chamber door and down a level.

INT. LOWER LEVEL - SUBMARINE - MOMENTS LATER

Ross closes the heavy door with a CLANG.

ROSS
We made a lot of noise and were
bringing back a witness. Haddaways
gonna be pissed.

CARTER
Ill take the heat.

He turns to leave.

ROSS
Hey! You wanna be a hero do it on
your own!

CARTER
We got the package, bad guys are
dead, and we saved a prisoner.
Mission accomplished.

ROSS
I dont do suicide missions Carter!

CARTER
Why dont you say whats really on
your mind Ross.

ROSS
OK. What you did was stupid. You
compromised us and Im sick of it.

CARTER
Dont worry, youll have a new
partner soon.

ROSS
Good. Cause Im not dying for you.

CARTER
Like she did?

ROSS
Thats not what I meant.

He exits.

ROSS (CONTD)
(to self)
Shit.
(to Carter)
I dont trust this guy Carter!

INT. KITCHEN - SUBMARINE

Carter studies the glass canister.

OLIVETTI
All that violence and destruction,
for something so small.

He moves closer. Carter puts it back in the briefcase.

OLIVETTI (CONTD)
What is it?

CARTER
Not sure. Whatever it is, its
important.

He snaps the briefcase shut.

The GLASS CYLINDER hangs inside a chamber. The tip of the


Piezo microphone extends into the LUMINESCENT LIQUID.

air bubble, when activated with a
specific sound frequency, vibrates

Carter fights his way through the SCREAMING crowd.

He hops off the stage and runs towards a Military Truck.

Carter SHOOTS a shot in the air and the crowd scatters out of
his way -- he charges towards the stage.

EXT. BAR - VERONA - NIGHT

Ross runs out to the middle of the street.

A KID on a DIRT BIKE rides by -- Ross knocks him off.

ROSS
Sorry kid.

He lifts the bike off the ground and rides.

EXT. PIAZZA BRA - GROUND NEAR STAGE - MOMENTS LATER

A COP comes around the Truck and SHOOTS Olivetti in the back -
Olivetti juts forward, the bullet proof suit jacket keeps him
alive -- Olivetti turns and BLASTS the Cop in the shoulder.

Olivetti grabs hold of the moving truck and opens the


passenger door -- jumps in and SLAMS the door.

ON CARTER

He FIRES at Olivetti -- bullets bounce off the side of the


truck -- he strikes a Soldier hanging onto the rear of the
truck, the man tumbles onto the road.

INT. MILITARY TRUCK - CONTINUOUS

The driver SHOOTS through the passenger window towards Carter


-- Olivetti swats his gun, protects Carter.

EXT. MILITARY TRUCK - CONTINUOUS

The truck speeds off -- POLICE CRUISERS trail behind.

EXT. PIAZZA BRA - ENTRANCE

Ross rides in on the Dirt Bike -- his head swivels as he


scans the crowd.

Truck ENGINE ROARS -- Ross turns and spots the truck heading
straight for him -- he guns the bike through the CROWD --
shoots behind him at the truck.

ON CARTER

He spots a DETECTIVE standing outside a BMW, talking on a


POLICE RADIO -- races towards him and hops in the car.

INT. BMW - CONTINUOUS

The DETECTIVE lunges at Carter through the open window --


Carter shoves him, kicks open the door knocking him to the
ground -- puts the car in drive and PEELS off.

EXT. PIAZZA BRA - EXIT

Ross chases a Military Truck -- Soldiers SPRAY bullets all


around him from Machine Guns.

INT. POLICE CRUISER - INTERCUT

Carter lifts the Police Radio.

(in Italian)
We need road blocks on all major
exits outside the city.

Cruiser CRASHES through a Police Barricade -- takes a sharp


corner and SKIDS onto the street.

INT. MILITARY TRUCK - CONTINUOUS

Olivetti looks at the side mirror.

HIS POV

A CONVOY of POLICE CARS chase after him.

EXT. VERONA STREET - CONTINUOUS

Olivettis truck overtakes passenger cars right and left.

EXT. MILITARY TRUCK - CONTINUOUS

The truck makes a sharp right turn onto a narrow cobblestone


street -- barely squeezes through.

COP CAR BEHIND TRUCK

Attempts the same maneuver but SMASHES into a PARKED CAR.

EXT. STONE BRIDGE - VERONA - SAME

The Motorcycle Driver ducks under a low hanging arch.

Ross speeds after him on the dirt bike.

Both bikes race up a RAMP onto a NARROW BRIDGE.

Ross raises his gun and aims at the driver.

A VAN backs up directly in the path of both bikes -- Ross


skids and slides -- other bike CRASHES into the Van.

bridge. They position the cars as a ROADBLOCK.

SPIKES across the road.

STATIC from the radio, a muffled VOICE, its unclear.

The Military Trucks sway side-to-side violently, attempting


to push the Police Cruisers over the edge.

Road Block in full view. Olivetti stares with ferocity.

The driver steps on the gas -- FULL SPEED AHEAD.

In the rearview mirror: Carters BMW speeds up parallel the


truck.

RENATI blesses himself in the shape of the cross.

A HAIL BULLETS blast at the convoy of approaching vehicles.

RENATI and Cops run out of the way as the Trucks CRASH into
the wooden police barricades, cruisers, and road spikes.

The leading Military Truck clears a path for the rest of the
convoy to follow.

Olivettis truck SMASHES through.

Carters BMW spins then gets back on track in pursuit.

ON RENATI

He stares at disbelief at the destruction before him.

RENATI (CONTD)

Ross parks the dirt bike near a POLICE CRUISER. Pulls out his

Carters cellphone VIBRATES on the car seat.

Ross hangs up. He looks over to Renati. Enters the Police


Cruiser and drives off.

Carter walks between RAILROAD CARS and TRACKS. He spots


SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS mounted from TELEPHONE POLES.

EXT. OUTSIDE BUILDING - RAIL YARD - SAME

Carter hops over a fence and moves towards a door.

One of Olivettis SOLDIERS stands guard, lights a cigarette.

Carter comes from behind, covers the Guards mouth and sticks
a knife in his ribs.

Olivetti steps off a Military Truck and is greeted by


Williams aid Martina, now a BLONDE and in soldier fatigues.

Carter slips by a GUARD. He spots Martina enter a room.

A SCIENTIST, 30, takes out some of the luminous liquid from


the canister, pours a small sample into a petri dish.

Olivetti and Martina watch.

CARTER (O.S.)
Hands in the air.

Olivetti walks towards the Canister.

(pulls the hammer on gun)

EXT. RAIL YARD - NIGHT

Ross takes out a Soldier, take his machine gun. He looks


around, crosses towards the BUILDING.

EXT. RAIL YARD - TRACKS - NIGHT

Carter, on one knee, bloody lipped. He looks up to the


SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS.

OLIVETTI
You are either with us, or against
us Agent Carter.

He wears a pair of TASER KNUCKLES, a constant ELECTRIC


CURRENT.

OLIVETTI (CONTD)
An invention of the late Doctor
Smodorov.

CARTER
Guess you dont fight fair.

Olivetti punches him -- BZZZ -- knocks Carter to the ground.

EXT. RAIL YARD - SAME

Ross moves between RAIL CARS.

EXT. RAIL YARD - MOMENTS LATER

Carter swings a punch -- Olivetti twists his arm and knees


him in the face -- Carters TOOTH falls out.

Olivetti ZAPS Carter in the ribs, for several beats.

Carter spits blood onto the pavement. Motions bring it on.

Olivetti pressed the Taser Knuckles to Carters temples --


BZZZ.

CARTER
Ahh!

Olivetti slams Carters face on the hood of a CAR. Carter,


unconscious, slumps with his back against the front bumper.

EXT. OUTSIDE BUILDING - RAIL YARD

Ross spots Martina and Olivettis Soldiers loading into a


Rail Car.

ROSS
Damnit Carter where are you?

I/E. CAR - RAIL YARD - NIGHT

Carter, barely conscious, sits in the driver seat with his


hands duct taped to the steering wheel.

Olivetti puts the Car in Neutral -- wedges a metal pipe


between the accelerator and the car seat -- engine ROARS.

He SLAMS the car door closed.

EXT. CAR - CONTINUOUS

OLIVETTI
Im sorry it had to come this. But
the world is worth saving.

He leans into the window and puts the Car into Drive --
removes his arm quickly.

The Car speeds on RAILROAD TRACKS towards a RAILCAR.

EXT. TRACKS - CONTINUOUS

Ross spots the Car with Carter inside.

ROSS
Carter!

INT. CAR - CONTINUOUS

Carter awakens -- stares at the Railcar ahead of him.

EXT. CAR - CONTINUOUS

It CRASHES into the Railcar and EXPLODES.

EXT. RAILCAR # 2 - CONTINUOUS

Olivetti stares at the explosion. He enters the car and


slides the door shut.

EXT. TRACKS - MOMENTS LATER

Ross stares devastated.

HIS POV

The car engulfed in flames.

EXT. RAIL YARD - AERIAL SHOT - CONTINUOUS

Olivettis Railcar moves along the tracks. The Burning car.


Police Sirens. Smoke. Sparks.

CUT TO:

INT. INTERROGATION ROOM

Ross, after the explosion, stares at a smoldering cigarette


in an ashtray.

A CAMCORDER on a TRIPOD faces Ross.

A DETECTIVE observes in the corner.

Renati extinguishes the butt.

RENATI
Youve told us the ending, but the
story is, how do you say?
Full of holes.

Renati signals for the Detective to leave, he exits.

RENATI (CONTD)
Im sorry about your friend.
(beat)
What happened tonight Agent Ross?
Why were the lives of my men taken?
Who killed Agent Carter?

Renati turns off the Camcorder.

A KNOCK on the door -- 2 CIA AGENTS in suits flash their


badges for Renati.

Renati exits.

Ross sulks with a glass of whiskey.

FEMALE BARTENDER

ROSS

He drinks. Stares up at TV.

Ross hops off a Motorcycle. A BLACK LIMO parked.

Ross studies a file, sits across from HADDAWAY.

He stares into Ross.

(deflects)

EXT. BEACH - DAY

Reveal Carter, in a hat and shades. He sips the wine. Nods in


approval, waiter leaves the bottle.

Carter stares at AIR BUBBLES in the wine. Spins the glass.

BACK TO:

EXT. CAR - RAIL YARD - FLASHBACK

Olivetti SLAMS the car door.

OLIVETTI
Im sorry it had to come to this.
But the world is worth saving.

Olivetti sticks his arm and head into the window.

OLIVETTI (CONTD)
(whispers)
Thank you Carter.

He slides a KNIFE into Carters hand -- grips it.

EXT. RAIL YARD - TRACKS - FLASHBACK

The Car speeds towards the Railcar.

INT. CAR - CONTINUOUS

Carter cuts his hands free -- he opens the car door -- leaps
out just as the car is about to smash into the railcar.

END FLASHBACK

EXT. BEACH - MOMENTS LATER

Carter stares out at the ocean. Drinks his glass of wine.

FADE OUT.
