Dear Parents/Guardians,

My name is Miss Graham, and I would like to warmly welcome you to my 7th grade English Language Arts class! I
am excited to have your child in class and look forward to a successful and productive year. I have recently
graduated from Arizona State University with a BAE in Secondary Education (English), and I am passionate about
educating secondary school students to prepare them as the future of the world because education is one of the
strongest factors that influence a young persons life. I am prepared to create meaningful instructional
opportunities that will allow your child, as well as myself, to grow in independent thinking. Through related
coursework in my program, I have learned to use technology in the classroom, flexible lessons, strategies that
allow all students to be included, and content that is relevant through real-world connections. My goal is to
prepare your child for the future.

Through my previous job positions, I have been able to engage individuals and groups of people who belong to
diverse ethnicities, races, religions, and other factors. I believe in fundamental values of human nature that are
equally important to create a sense of community, build trust, and learn from one another. Such values are:
compassion, empathy, forgiveness, integrity, kindness, respect, and self-reflection. I have learned also how to
gauge my engagements with international and native undergraduate and graduate students in order to assist them
with their essays in a wide range of subjects and lengths. This flexibility and openness to work with diverse
students across disciplines will enable me to do so at large within my own classroom space.

As an educator, I firmly believe that the classroom allows a team of teachers, students, parents, and other
professionals to learn together and help one another accelerate in growth and understanding. My experiences
interacting with people through my past and current jobs will enable me to inspire and motivate students in the
classroom as I build a respectful and comfortable environment in which students can succeed, engage, and learn
with peers and instructors alike. I understand the importance of expressing oneself through not only vocal, but
written communication, and wish to include communication skills in my future teaching, as they are a crucial for all
aspects of life, especially while working with others.

I wanted to reach out to you to ensure that you have my contact information. Please feel free to call or email me if
you ever have any questions and/or concerns.

Thank you,

Abigail R. Graham

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Sanchez,

My name is Miss Graham, and I would like to discuss a concern that I have about your child, Angel. Angel has fallen
asleep in class three times over the past week, on Monday, Tuesday, and today (Friday). In my class, sleeping is not
allowed because it hinders your childs ability to receive participation points. It also prevents your child from
finishing important in-class assignments and listening to lectures that will help him finish those in-class
assignments and homework assignments. So far, Angel has missed three days of participation points (15 points)
and three in class assignments (30 points).

I wanted to communicate this issue with both of you so that your child does not miss any more important in-class
time. Please ensure that your child gets a full night of rest so that he is ready to participate in my class next week.
He has previously shown great potential, receiving As and Bs on most assignments, so I know that he is able to
improve this rough patch.

Please feel free to call or email me if you have any questions and/or concerns about Angels behavior. If you would
like to discuss this issue further, I am willing to meet with you in person or talk with you over the phone after
school ends at 3:05PM or during lunch at 11:05AM.

Thank you,

Abigail R. Graham
