    IntroductiontoFlushBottomValve
    FlushBottomValveisaspecialpurposevalve,whichisusedinpiping,reactorsandvesselstodrainoutabrasive,Slurry,ViscousMaterial
    orSemiSolidMedia.

    Thistypeofvalveisavailableinthesizefrom15MMto150MMwithdifferentmaterialofconstructionlikeCastIron,CastSteel,SS304/
    316oranyspecialalloytosuituserrequirements.ThevalvesseatingareTeflon/Neoprene/Vitondependingontheprocess.

    Thistypeofvalveisattachedtothevesselsonpadtypenozzle.Thedisksinclosedpositionmatchwiththebottomofthevesselorpiping
    leavingnoroomforholduporstagnation.

    Therearetwotypesofflushbottomvalves.

    Valveswithdiskopeningintothetanks.
    Valveswithdiskintothevalve

    Inthefirstcasethestempushesthediskintothetanktodraintheliquid.Thistypecannotbeusedwhenthereareanyinternalswhich
    restrictthemovementofthedisk.Thedrainofthematerialcouldbeeffectedcompletely.Inthesecondcase,thediskgetspulleddowninto
    thevalveeffectingthedischargeofmaterial.

    Therearenormallytwotypeofdiskdesignavailable,theplugtypeandtheramtype.

    Normally,theinletsizeofastandardflushbottomvalveisonesizehigherthanthatoftheoutletsize.Therearespecialconstructions
    possiblewithbothsizessame.Theoutletportisatanangletotheinletport.Normally45or60degreesdeviationisprovided.Theend
    connectionsarenormallyflanged.However,smallersizesample/drainvalveshavebeendevelopedwithweldingendatinlettowithstand
    higherpressures.ThemaximumratingavailableatpresentforflangedvalveisANSI300lbs.

    achievedbydiskclosingagainstthebodyseat.

    Jacketedflushbottomvalvesarealsopossibledependingontheservice.Thediskandseatalsocouldbemachinedtosuchaccuracytoserve
    thevacuumdutyaswell.
