After a few months into 2017, there have already been problems that are

growing upon the troubled atmosphere. Since the events of the 2016 Presidential
election between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, most curious readers around the
world hurried to read George Orwells book, 1984, as they could possibly fear a
dystopia is transitioning from an unbearable nightmare into a surreal reality. In the past
weve seen how catastrophic a dystopia was with Hitler with his perfect race. Hitler
was controlling Germany with an iron fist, creating an ideal way of fear for the people
and forcing them to live by his rules just as the proles did in 1984. Even today in our
society, we have witnessed similar changes in our behavioral lives that are presented in
1984. Such as our own government are spying on citizens in their own homes and
listening in to their conversations. Theyre spying on the citizens. Through our
technology that we use on a daily basis like our TVs and laptops. We, as a society,
must prevent history from repeating itself before its too late.
George Orwells book, 1984, is a warning to the people of future generations
about how our society can be controlled by a Party just as they were in the book. The
Party achieved their goal by enforcing different specialized units of officers to spy and
listen to the citizens of Oceania ( Orwell 2 - 3 ). Because of this, no one in Oceania was
allowed to have any sort of privacy. Privacy in Oceania was considered a threat to the
Party because it would grant the citizens an opportunity to plot and execute to take
down their organization and ruin their perfect utopia. For The Party to prevent that,
they needed to control all the aspects of all the people that they can to prevent any
problem from proceeding. Which includes freedom because The Party stripped the
citizens freedom by giving them only ultimatums. To do what youre told or become
vaporized. Just as it happened during Hitlers period when he was controlling Germany.
Previously in history, Hitlers rise to power came in play throughout a process.
Germany just suffered since they lost in the Great War. With Germany going through
depression from the event, everyone was disappointed and that gave Hitler the
opportunity of a lifetime to use the people to his advantage to get the people's trust. He
accomplished
this by giving speeches and lectures of how Germany will be powerful again but better
than simply by manipulating their mindset and perspectives. The citizens looked at
Hitler as if he was a God, as Big Brother was to the citizens of Oceania. The citizens
filled their hearts with their love. With Hitlers leadership, he has gained the majority vote
of the people in Germany since he was voted for many titles such as: Chairman of the
NSDAP, Chancellor, President of Germany. Just like in 1984 , where they was the
Thought Police, there was a secret police called the SS that HItler assembled. The SS
does the same job as the Thought Police would, but worse. ( Paideia ) The SS does
Hitlers wetwork when one disobeys his rules. With all that power, Hitler ruled the streets
of Germany as a dictatorship rather than a democracy since he succeeded made all the
other governments diminished. Hitlers ethics was that only one party should control
every aspect so no difficulties wouldnt occur with other parties. Hitler and his Nazi
Party together ruled with a glory just as The Inner Party. Both Parties successfully
changed the lives of people as they were brainwashed in the process where the truth
was hidden from them. This is why history cant repeat itself in the future as it starts
showing drastic changes.
Today in our everyday lives, we use technology very often. What our citizens
dont realize is that our own government is using our technology to keep surveillance on
us. There have been reports where our own u.s government is hacking into our
technology systems and listening in to our secure conversations. Which is the exactly
what The Thought Police did in 1984 where they would listen the citizens of Oceania.
The same behavior as our government is doing to us on this very day. The government
is spying through smart TVs mainly. Especially through the brand Samsung. With the
government spying on our citizens, we are unable to have any freedom without anyone
through a monitor easily gain access into our private conversations. Which equals the
government violating our basic human rights. Not only the government is spying through
Smart TVs, theyre also spying through our computers front web camera. The
government can activate
our camera without physically enabling the actual camera itself, so we wont be able to
know when were being watched at anytime. This is why our CAHS community have
their
chromebooks camera covered with thick tape so the government cant see what theyre
doing. Even the FBI Director, James Comey, puts tape on his personal computer
because
he knows the FBI, or any other government agency, are capable of doing.
We, the people, need to stop history from repeating itself over and over or else
we would be in a more unsafe environment, where our lives are instantly stripped to the
bare minimums just like 1984. Imagine living in a world where we would be limited to a
certain extend of choices that we canmakewhileourowngovernment,whoare
supposetoprotectandservetheircountry,arealwayslisteningin,watchingour
everymove.LookhowitworkedoutwithHitlerinthepast.Theworldwouldbein
abiggerholeofdarknesswithnoraysofsunlight.Weneedtoprotectour
unalienablerightsasastrongsocietytopreventthisfiascofromoccurringagainin
thenearfuture.
