Current Trends in Media and Information and How they affect Individuals

and the society as a whole.

Here are some Top Trends in media and information that give us impact in our daily life and
how it affects to us and in our society.

The first one is the Live Streaming Video in

facebook today its the most popular doing , because
anyone can do live chatting to everyone. Because users
are growing tired of the older mediums .Combined with
the trend of users demanding more live and at-the-
moment updates, live streaming video has seen a major
increase in popularity; especially with the recent release
of facebook live. The photo and video sharing app
Snapchat is also popular to be a front-runner in social
media in the coming years, Snapping is no longer just for the kids.

The second is Voice search like in

Iphone, Siri is one of the growing in
sophistication and user adoption for the
past several years . And Google Home
Search is just two examples of how voice
search is gradually gaining significance in
our daily lives. It means even short or
long -tail keywords and on conversational can help people to do a research
in these types of searches , it will help you too , to adapt the content
accordingly.

The third is Social Buying Advertising in social media has always

been around --- If you like that item you will purchased the item and just to
contact the employer who is in charge and this is the growth of online and
mobile commerce, this is a natural next step in the world of buying and
selling. It eliminates changed minds and aborted transactions when the
consumer is redirected to a website from a social post. Example of apps or
site that we can tell its legit; Buyable pins by
Pinterest, Ebay, Amazon, OLX and etc.

The Fourth one is

Personalization
today in the world of
social media the
users is spoiled with
controllable newsfeeds on social media and search
results that vary based on location, search history and other factors specific
to individual users. The public user has a demanding content and
advertising and its individualized the more relevant than ever. And theres a
greater demand for personalization and customization, and platforms and
publishers alike are doing what they can to cater to that demand. In fact,
Facebook was recently accused of having a bias maybe because its
personalization algorithm tended to display stories with a political leaning
already similar to its targeted users preferences (c).
The Fifth is 1 like = 1 Prayer or the Type
Amen if you are Agree Facebook users know this
type of post that is so often pop out on our newsfeeds. Those
kinds of post show some sick , starving disabled ,
injured (child or adults) and animals with a caption
imploring users to both like it and share and those
Facebook actions will result in prayers for the child.
Some ask readers to comment things like Amen
just for good measures and some even claim those like and shares actually
result in charitable donations. But apparently good-willed nature of these
post is misleading the best. Maybe because there is a darker story being
played out and were not simply aware. And what many of us fail to realise
is in these kind of post there is a specific motivation to this sorts of post
that implore likes and shares and it has nothing to do with compassion.

The six social trending is those viral videos or what they call it Vines,
these videos use on social media has been steadily increasing, and the
growth is reported in 2015 and now dominating in social media . Vine has
the potential to make sharing much easier and faster and what Youtube did
in recent past in creating content sharing revolution, Vine may well do but in
its own and unique style. Based on my research in Social Media Marketers
and top Brands are already started using Vine. For example it has the
potential to connect with consumers more personally than before. Also
people love videos, animation and at the same time they love things to be
brief. People now a days even drag the progress bar of a 5 minute long
Youtube Video because there are million more contents waiting and less
time available for consumer. Vine gives people the ability to create video
content almost instantaneously which is contagious. And those videos we
watch in our social media is what we call vines and
the viner who do the video. They just creating
videos for fun and to remove stress to the viewers.

The Seventh and last that I

search is the Meme photos and
videos that goes viral in socia
media that evreyone is sharing and
(some) of them relate especialy those hugot memes of
Tom Sawyer and Princess Sarah the Patatas Memes that goes viral on
social media. The main reason for this phenomena is that these two
demographics have a playful curiosity about internet memes and like
messaging. However, the average age of meme-spreaders has continually
increased as users of more than 30 years of age have discovered the
humour and chuckles about sending memes to their close friends. Memes
may look like nonsense, a good way to waste
time for those with nothing else to do but surf all day. But in
reality, they are a major business. They change the way we
live, shape popular culture and continually evolve with
the modern society. They hugely influence modern
language and culture shaping how the youth and the
whole internet user community live. Memes sometimes target
specific demographics, such as stoner memes
target weed smokers and hippies. Promotions, advertising, and marketing
professionals are embracing memes because they are cheap and trendy not
mentioning their unique characteristic of spreading like a virus. These so-
called memes have assisted in producing fortune and fame to many people.
The meme phenomena subtly represent the tones of modern social
etiquette and culture.
The overall implications of media and Information to an individual
(Personal , Professional , Educational and others ) and the society as a whole
( Economic , Social political , educational ).

Based on my research and my opinion is it gives us a lot of help in the

way when we need a research about the what is happening in our nation ,
media has information to give us , and the most positive that it gives to us
is mass media include a more informed society. Like newspaper , the
circulation was the first mass media content to affect the way people
considered their role in society , it informed public translate into an involved
public. Mass media took a new role in our society in the form of radio and
television , and now in millennial generation is the world of Internet and
social media , the new mass media forms exposing the general public to
sights and sounds they never would have previously had access to.

For three decades we have been concerned about the effect and affect of computers on
human life. We have been obsessed with the delivery system. We should have been questioning
the effect and affect of information availability on human life.

The convergence of computers and communications has altered our lives because of what they
do with information, not because of what they are. "...the newspaper has arguably reached the
limits of its growth as a form in that the costs of its raw materials are beginning to outweigh the
advantages of distribution and delivery to so wise an audience. If it far better to transfer
information of this kind to magazines, if we can wait a week or two, or if urgent and perishible,
transfer it to videotext or teletext."---InterMedia The electronic delivery system makes
information available anywhere. Ideas can be everywhere at once, in real time and full color.
Information is available to us "live from Saturn," from London, from the Moon, from our
offices or from anyone's offices in New York or anywhere on land, sea, air and outer space. The
workplace is being severely challenged by the availability of information. Now that we don't
need to be there to meet and manage, we are questioning the nature of management.

Attempts to link information to decision models leads us to question our understanding of

the alleged decision process. Easily transferable information is easily copied. Entire business
empires are operating under the threat of extinction by counterfeit. Movies, music, and
databases are easily replicated. Information instantly available everywhere, anywhere is
difficult to protect from theft or misuse. Mass media makes possible the concept of celebrity:
without the ability of movies, magazines, and news media to reach across thousands of miles,
people could not become famous. In fact, only political and business leaders, as well as the few
notorious outlaws, were famous in the past. Only in recent times have actors, singers, and other
social elites become celebrities or stars.

Media in todays world ,like every coin has two sides, both positive and negative
implications. As far as society is concerned, one thing that should be kept in mind is that, it
depends upon the society to reap the positive and negative outcome from media. Media helps us
to evaluate important burning issues and spreads awareness of current events. The society we
live in is saturated with media. The effect that the media has on society also affects education in
a very big way. It helps in the diffusion of education to the masses by spreading ideas,
establishing common interests that help to spread enlightened culture. Media plays a significant
role in moulding public opinion. It increases social awareness, encourages active participation
of the individual to realise his duties and obligations, raises his standard of thinking and
behaviour.

It is a powerful means of public education. It has helped in eradicating illiteracy, increasing

mass awareness on various social issues, equalizing educational opportunities, promoting a
secular and egalitarian society. It has improved not only the quality of education but also caters
to a larger section of the population. Thus, its contribution is both qualitative as well as
quantitative. It contributes to the constructive use of our leisure time, which would otherwise
have been wasted. It helps develop new found interest and appreciation on a wide variety of
subjects, and also fosters creative ability. The broadens the outlook of people with regard to
religion and culture, as it enlightens listeners on information, helping to remove superstitions,
taboos and prejudices.
Positive and Negative effects of Media information on Individual and Society.

It is necessary to blame the media for everything that we see society today. But is media really
so evil? Mass media has had both positive and negative effects on people, especially young
people who have grown up consuming media from many different mediums. Mass media has
made information available to more people more quickly, and it has enabled individuals to
spread their innovative ideas much farther than they would have been if there were no mass
media. However, mass media has negative consequences for many people.

Positive effect of media information

Making people informative Individual

become more informative about the national and
international current affairs. They are introduced

to the local news and events that enlightens them and plays an important role in the formulation
of the public opinion. With the advent of electronic media, images and videos are beamed
across the world via television and the mobile gadgets. People can access information at the
click of the button.

Transparency media has helped to make the working of a

nation extremely transparent. According to the experts in
my research , it is the third pillar of democracy after the
government and the people. The common man can air his
own opinion without any problem through the social
media so that the higher authorities of the ruling class can take action for their good. Unlike the
past when decision making was masked by opacity, the functioning of the modern government
is scrutinized lock stock and barrel by the media.
Source of entertainment Television, cinema halls
and print media are crucial in projecting the soft power of
the society. They help to make the local culture and tradition
popular among the viewers. In addition, people can watch
movies, documentaries and entertaining content to feel
rejuvenated as well as happy.

Social message Media has become a boon for the

developing world as it has focused on the social ills of the
society existing in those countries. Majority of people are not
aware about the practices that are detrimental to the society.
Television and social media highlights the issue in detail and
keeps the people updated. Once the government takes stock of
the public opinion, it can proceed ahead and ban the practices
that are harmful to society. Issues such as poverty and child
labor are effectively addressed by the media group around the world.

Finding Common Ground In An Open Society It can help

you find people you share interest with. In Facebook example people
ask you about who and what you are into right from the start, meaning
common ground with others is much easier to find. On Twitter you will
follow those who have something to say that youre interested in,
making connections with like-minded individuals much easier than is
possible offline. This does require sharing information, and giving up a
certain amount of privacy in order to do so. Keeping key personal
information private is necessary, but likes and dislikes, interests and
obsessions, thought and views, isnt. And actually contributes to an open society.

Negative effect of media information

Over-Sharing & Loss of Privacy each of us spends a little too
long talking about ourselves on social networking sites. But were
sharing our lives the ups and downs, the twists and turns with
people we think will care to us. They generally do care, and will tell
you so. They will listen to what you have to say, and help you deal
with any problems you may be facing. And its harmless if we
post example the image may appear less attractive in the context of
an employer doing a background check.

A False Sense of Connection in social media

sites can make it more difficult for us to distinguish
between the meaningful relationships we foster in the
real world, and the numerous casual relationships
formed through social media. By focusing so much of
our time and energy on things irrelevant .

Leads to addiction Many studies have shown that the

extensive use of social media can actually cause addiction to the
users. Throughout their day, they feel to post something on their
pages or check others posts as it has become an important part
of their life.

Affecting Productivity/ Decreased

Productivity Mostly businesses use social media to find and
communicate with clients. But it is a great distraction to
employees, who may show more interest in what their friends
are posting than in their work tasks.
Leads to Cyberbullying the
immediacy provided by social media is
available to predators as well as friends. Kids
especially are vulnerable to the practice of
cyber-bullying in which the perpetrators,
anonymously or even posing as people their
victims trust, terrorize individuals in front of
their peers. The devastation of these online
attacks can leave deep mental scars. In several well-publicized cases, victims have even been
driven to suicide.

And in Conclusion I think that the effects of social media have been somewhat
balanced, to be honest. There are many good things about it, and many bad things. In the end, if
you can keep your own life centered in reality and use social networking as a small part of it,
you should be just fine. And if you think its kinda bad effects in you, it might be time to turn off
the computer and you android phones for a bit and go for a walk or you can read your favourite
book.
