Using the knowledge obtained during this and the previous lessons the student will accurately and coherently answer

1. Center #1 will be the technology centerthis center be at the computers and the students will be
required to revisit the Scholastic webpage The First Thanksgiving concentrating this time on the
Daily Life section of the webpage. At this center the students will compare and contrast the daily life
of the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag using the Venn Diagram
2. Center #2 will be the Pete the Cat read-aloud centerthis center will be at the carpet and the students
will gather around and the teacher will read-aloud Pete the Cat the First Thanksgiving by Kimberly
Dean and James Dean. Upon completion of the story the students will complete the BME graphic
organizer recounting in proper sequence the story that was just read.
3. Center #3 will be the Biography centerthis center will be at the round table. There will be
laminated printouts of short biography cards about those who contributed to The First
Thanksgiving (1) Pilgrim Elizabeth (2) Governor Carver (3) Pilgrim John and (4) Native American
Squanto. As part of the centers packet the students will have corresponding work sheets pertaining
to what the students learned. During the center, each group member will pick one of the biographies
to read and then complete the corresponding worksheet.
After centers are complete the teacher will give the students a Fact or Fiction Printout for the students to complete.
They will read statements about thanksgiving and decide if they are true or false. If the statement is true, the student
will then color the statements corresponding picture.
***Materials that will be used for assessment and examples of completed tasks and projects must be included with the
lesson plan.
Resources/Materials ALL resources including but not limited too; internet sites, professional resources- books, journals (titles and authors),
childrens literature, etc. should be noted here. Citations should be in APA format.

Gifted/Talented:
Gifted/Talented students will write a biography similar to the Biography cards from the point of view of themselves
as either a Native American or a Pilgrim.

Notes
For a homework assignment, the students will draw and color a picture of something they are thankful for. They will
include 1-2 lines of text about why they are thankful for it.
